What is Light..?
We hear it all the time in yoga, meditation, and wellness:
“Search for the light. Share the light. Be the light.”
But what does “light” really mean?
To understand light, yoga often invites us to first understand darkness ~ not in a negative sense ~ but as ignorance (Avidya).
Ignorance of what?
Of our true nature: that we are connected. That nothing exists alone. 💞
In yoga, darkness is forgetting that we are one.
Light is the realization that you are in constant interaction with all life... that your breath, your body, your being, are part of a larger whole.
The tree exists because of the forest, and the forest exists because of the tree.
This is connection, this is yoga.
In this July course in Thailand, I witnessed the power of that light. 💫
I saw students not only strengthen their own bodies and minds, but also seek to understand how to share that strength, that peace, with their families, their friends, and their communities.
I saw it in the questions they asked, in the deep discussions we shared, and in their sincere curiosity.
I saw it in how they supported one another, taught each other, laughed together, and created a space of trust and vulnerability.
This was not just a training. It was a reminder:
When we heal ourselves, we help heal the world.
When we connect, we remember who we are.
Thank you, dear students, for sharing your light. 🙏🏼
Thank you for using this time not only to grow for yourselves, but to learn how to serve others.
Thank you for your openness, your deep questions, your courage, and your connection.
And lastly… welcome to our newest member of La Casa Shambala: Luz 🐾
Yes, this course didn’t just bring the light of wisdom, it also brought us an actual little light. A cat named Luz (“light” in Spanish).
Welcome, Luz. May you remind us every day of the beauty of connection. 🐈
With love and gratitude,
