BACKGROUND

Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. Building on the Ismaili Community's healthcare efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary healthcare and curative medical
care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to the government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria, and Tajikistan.
The Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the
cleanliness, sanitation, and overall maintenance of the Aga Khan Medical Center. This role involves managing the housekeeping team, implementing cleaning protocols, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety across all areas of the medical center.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead, supervise, and motivate the housekeeping staff, ensuring all duties are
performed efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct regular training sessions for housekeeping staff on cleaning protocols,
safety procedures, and use of equipment.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks to the housekeeping team, ensuring coverage across all areas of the facility. Maintain proper duties handover
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff, providing feedback,
and conducting performance reviews. Ensure all areas of the medical center,
including patient rooms, operating rooms, common areas, and offices, are cleaned,
and maintained to the highest standards.
- Oversee the use of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring they are used safely
and effectively.
- Inspect and report any maintenance issues or repairs needed in the facility.
- Implement and maintain cleaning schedules and protocols to ensure regular and
thorough cleaning of all areas.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock
levels are maintained.
- Order and replenish cleaning supplies as needed, keeping within budgetary
constraints.
- Maintain records of supply usage and inventory levels.
- Ensure all housekeeping activities comply with health and safety regulations and
hospital policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential
hazards.
- Implement infection control practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases
within the medical center.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety protocols and ensure staff compliance.
- Proactively learn and understand all AKHS policies and including Safeguarding
policies and procedure.
- Stickly follow and maintain requirements of AKHS Safeguarding policies and
procedures.
- Guest service-prepare coffee and tea.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager

SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

Education:
- University degree/Diploma in BA, Management in Social Sphere, Marketing, Operation
and Supply Chain Management or any other relevant fields.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience and preferably in health care service
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable

Skills:
- Self-motivation and ability to work without minimum supervision.
- Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in clinical or medical product knowledge/sales
- Ability to work under pressure and difficult situations

Technical Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Internet Explorer
- Fluent in Tajik, Russian and excellent written and verbal communication in English

- Counsel patients/families and relatives on health promotion and management.
- Maintain regular contacts with doctors of other departments to ensure harmonization of patients' management.
- Review and develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients' health care to formulate best practice guidelines.
- Ensure timely availability of required support services in the process of treating patients, particularly when referred to other specialists.
- Liaise with consultants on handling specialized cases in provision of patients' health care.
- Prepare timely and accurate medical reports and participate in clinical audits and mortality reviews.
