What is the mechanism of action of anticoagulants?

The fact that api(xa)ban, edo(xa)ban and rivaro(xa)ban all contain the letters (Xa)
because they are direct inhibitors of factor Xa.

Dabigatran (Pradaxa) is another NOACs with a different mechanism of action as an oral factor II (thrombin) inhibitor.
