Emesis or prolapse gastropathy may result in hematemesis.

🔬 Upper endoscopy can show patchy pr*****ed stomach fundus mucosa with erythema, edema, and congestion.

🤢 Retching and vomiting may cause prolapse of the lesser curvature of the stomach fundus into the esophagus.

⚠️ Temporary "prolapse with strangulation" results in submucosal edema, congestion and hemorrhages.

⚕️ Prolapse gastropathy may be a precursor of Mallory-Weiss tears or Boerhaave's syndrome.
