Meet Mika: "At Mika’s 18 month appointment I brought a few concerns to his pediatrician, I could see in her face that she had the same concerns. I looked her straight in the eyes and asked 'do you think he has autism?' I will never forget that day! I knew I had to act quick I had to fight for him for his best opportunities. I had to put aside my heartbreak and fight! That I did. I pushed back, got in-person services, covid making early intervention very hard. I spent countless hours researching I found an amazing program at UCLA where we moved and went for 3 months. I never looked back on what I thought my child was 'supposed' to be, I just looked forward to what he was becoming. Fast forward almost 2 years and this beautiful, charismatic , intelligent boy is rocking preschool, ABA , and speech, everyday he impresses me - everyday day! He loves people, hugs, tickles, swimming, jumping running, laughing, dancing and singing. He works so hard to do what comes natural for others. He is the most amazing boy!
What I hope to communicate with other parents is acceptance is the 1st step. Pick yourself up Accept embrace and fight for what they need and never look back.
P.S. every single parent out there if I can do it you can do it!"
