October 10: World Mental Health Day
Globally, mental health issues such as depression and anxiety negatively affect productivity in the workplace. According to the WHO, these issues lead to an annual productivity loss of $1 trillion. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the need for mental health support in the workplace more evident. Research shows that practices prioritizing mental health at work boost employee morale and yield positive outcomes for companies.
Adverse working conditions, such as long hours and night shifts, can lead to burnout and stress. Therefore, laws and policies that protect mental health in the workplace are of great importance. As a result, supporting mental health at work will contribute not only to the well-being of individuals but also to the overall welfare of workplaces and society.
