Functional Rhinoplasty

👃 Aesthetics + Health = Functional Rhinoplasty! The Importance of Proper Breathing ✨
Rhinoplasty isn't done just for beauty; breathing correctly is the foundation of a healthy life.

Unfortunately, many patients report difficulty breathing after their initial aesthetic surgery, even if their nose looks good. This is often because insufficient attention was paid to the internal nasal structure during the procedure.

What is Functional Rhinoplasty?
Functional Rhinoplasty is the surgical approach that aims to correct both the aesthetic appearance and the breathing function of the nose simultaneously.

Our Goal is Dual Success:

Internal Structure Improvement: We resolve issues that restrict breathing, such as septum deviation and turbinate enlargement. By widening the air passages, we ensure your body gets the oxygen it needs with every breath.

Balance with External Appearance: While performing all these internal corrections, we avoid exaggerated lines and create a harmonious, natural form that is aesthetically balanced with the face.

It must be remembered that a beautiful-looking nose that struggles to breathe is not a healthy outcome. A beautiful nose is only truly correct if it can breathe.

ℹ️ Results for every surgical or interventional procedure may vary from person to person. It is recommended to receive a detailed consultation from your physician before the procedure.

Crooked Nose Rhinoplasty 👃✨👨

Dear followers, today we are sharing the before and after visuals of a male patient who underwent Crooked Nose Rhinoplasty, an important case that demands significant surgical experience.

Crooked nose cases require complex structural corrections that affect both visual harmony and healthy breathing function. In our male patients, we prioritize correcting the nasal alignment while preserving the face's natural balance and masculine character.

Technical Success and Functional Improvement
Alignment and Correction (Septoplasty): The deviated septum, the primary cause of the nasal crookedness, was meticulously corrected (Septoplasty). This functional step brought the nasal framework to the midline, significantly improving the patient's breathing quality.

Structural Stability: Structural stability was ensured using robust cartilage supports (grafts) to minimize the risk of recurrent deviation and ensure the nasal bridge remains straight long-term.

Natural Aesthetics: The nose was reshaped without exaggeration, with the bridge straightened and the tip aligned to be harmonious with the masculine profile. The result is a balanced appearance that integrates fully with the patient's facial features.

This case demonstrates that complex structural challenges can be successfully resolved through precise surgical techniques and detailed planning.

If you are experiencing both aesthetic concerns and functional issues due to a crooked nose structure, you can consult the expertise of Prof. Dr. Öner Çelik for a personalized solution. 📞

ℹ️ Results for every surgical or interventional procedure may vary from person to person. It is recommended to receive a detailed consultation from your physician before the procedure.

How Do I Know If My Child Has Enlarged Adenoids?

Dear parents, Adenoid enlargement is a common condition in ENT practice that directly affects a child's quality of life and development. It is crucial to pay attention to the fundamental symptoms that indicate an adenoid issue in your child.

5 Key Signs of Adenoid Enlargement:
Mouth Breathing: If your child's mouth remains constantly open while sleeping and they struggle to breathe through the nose, this is the most significant sign that the adenoids are blocking the back of the nose.

Loud Snoring and Apnea: Persistent and loud snoring during sleep, or momentary pauses in breathing (Sleep Apnea), are the most serious consequences of enlarged adenoids.

Frequent Ear Infections: Recurring middle ear infections (otitis media) due to the adenoids blocking the opening of the Eustachian tube.

Nasal Discharge and Congestion: Chronic, persistent nasal congestion, constant need to blow the nose, or post-nasal drip.

Speech Disorder (Nasal Speech): Muffled nasal sounds, or speaking as if the nose is constantly blocked (hyponasal speech).

Why Is It Important?
Untreated large adenoids can lead to developmental delays due to poor sleep quality, permanent hearing loss, and even facial development issues (Adenoid Face).

If you observe one or more of these symptoms in your child, do not delay—consult Prof. Dr. Öner Çelik for a detailed ENT examination. We can establish a definitive diagnosis through endoscopic examination and create the correct treatment plan. 💡

Glomus Caroticum Tumor

⚠️ Attention to the Pulsating Neck Mass! What is a Glomus Caroticum Tumor? 🧠🩸

Have you noticed a swelling in your neck region, especially near the jawline, that moves with your pulse? This might not be an ordinary lymph node swelling; it could be a Glomus Caroticum Tumor.

What is This Tumor?
The Glomus Caroticum (Paraganglioma) is a rare, usually benign tumor that forms at the bifurcation point of the two main arteries (carotid arteries) in the neck. Despite being benign, its location in this critical area makes diagnosis and treatment highly specialized.

What Symptoms Should You Look For?
Pulsation: The mass moves rhythmically when checked, synchronous with the pulse.

Painless Growth: It typically starts as a slow-growing, painless lump.

Advanced Symptoms: Voice change, difficulty swallowing, or facial asymmetry due to pressure on facial nerves may occur.

Pulsing Sensation in the Ear: Rarely, a pulsing sensation referred to the ear may be present.

Why Does It Require Expertise?
This tumor has an intimate relationship with vital vascular and nerve structures (especially the carotid artery and surrounding cranial nerves). Therefore, the treatment (usually surgery) aims not only to remove the tumor but also to minimize the risk of neurological complications by preserving these structures. Advanced imaging (CT Angio, MRI) and a surgical team experienced in this field are essential.

Have you noticed a pulsating mass in your neck? Early evaluation is vital for correct diagnosis and safe surgery. Consult a Head and Neck Surgery specialist immediately. 👨‍⚕️

🛌 The Key to Recovery: How to Sleep After Rhinoplasty? 👃🌙

Dear followers, the comfort and success of your post-rhinoplasty recovery process are closely linked to adopting the correct sleeping position. The right posture is crucial for reducing swelling (edema) and bruising, while also protecting the nasal structure.

The Most Important Rule: Only Sleep on Your BACK!
The fundamental rule for sleeping position during the first 7-10 days (or sometimes the first 2 weeks) after surgery is this:

Back Sleeping: You must absolutely sleep on your back. Lying on your side or stomach can put pressure on your nose, altering its shape, increasing the risk of bleeding, and causing swelling to accumulate on one side.

Keep Your Head Elevated: Ensure your head remains above the level of your heart. You can achieve this by using 2-3 extra pillows or utilizing specialized wedge pillows for back support.

The Goal: Elevating the head uses gravity to reduce the accumulation of blood and fluid (edema) in the face and nose area, thereby accelerating recovery.

How long should this last? I generally advise adhering to this rule strictly for the first 2 weeks. Afterward, you can gradually return to your normal sleeping positions with your doctor's approval.

To complete your recovery process most comfortably and successfully, be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions precisely. Know that even the smallest detail makes a big difference! 💡

✨ The Highest Level of Aesthetics: Unnoticeable Harmony! 👃💖

A beautiful nose can attract attention, but the best nose simply harmonizes perfectly with your face. This philosophy is the cornerstone of our approach to Natural-Looking Rhinoplasty: It is the aesthetic that goes unnoticed.

Why is a Natural Result So Valuable?
Facial Balance Matters: When someone looks at you, the first thing they should notice is the balance and harmony of your entire face, not the shape of your nose. Our goal is to create a nasal structure that looks like it has always belonged to you, without revealing that you've had surgery.

Customized Design: Every face is different. Your bone structure, skin thickness, expressions, and facial ratios are unique. Therefore, instead of applying the same nose model to everyone, we create a balance that is uniquely yours through personalized planning and the right surgical techniques.

Holistic Approach: When planning a natural rhinoplasty, all facial structures—including the mouth, lips, and jawline—are evaluated together, not just the tip or bridge. This is because a beautiful nose gains its true meaning within the entire context of the face.

For us, success means preserving the nose's function, avoiding exaggerated and artificial lines, and remaining natural in the long term. True naturalness is seeing the harmony, not the intervention.

🏗️ Peak Structural Solution: Revision Rhinoplasty with Costal Cartilage! 👃✨

Dear followers, today I am sharing the striking before/after visuals of one of our Revision Rhinoplasty cases—one of the most challenging areas in aesthetic surgery.

This patient presented with significant cartilage deficiency and structural weakness in the nasal framework and tip due to previous surgeries. To achieve a permanent, strong, and aesthetic result, we performed comprehensive reconstruction using Costal (Rib) Cartilage.

Why Rib Cartilage?
Maximum Strength: Rib cartilage is the strongest and most durable graft material used in revision surgery.

Permanent Form: It provides robust support to weak nasal structures, ensuring the achieved aesthetic form is preserved without deformation over many years.

Aesthetic Harmony: Thanks to this powerful reconstruction, we rebuilt the nasal bridge and tip with natural and elegant lines that complement the face.

This permanent and aesthetic success is a testament to our experience in revision surgery and our mastery of structural solutions.

What is Barbie Nose Rhinoplasty? 👃✨

Dear followers, one of the most talked-about aesthetic trends on social media in recent years is the "Barbie Nose Rhinoplasty" or sometimes called the "Tinkerbell Nose" trend.

From a surgical perspective, what exactly does this term mean, and what is our approach to it?

What is the "Barbie Nose"?
This term typically refers to a nose shape with distinct, sharp lines, where the nasal bridge is excessively narrowed, and the nasal tip is overly upturned and small, disproportionate to the rest of the face. The goal is to give the face an almost doll-like, artificial expression.

Prof. Dr. Öner Çelik's Philosophy:
The foundation of our surgical philosophy is to ensure personal harmony and longevity rather than following fleeting trends.

Risk of Artificial Look: Noses that are excessively upturned and disproportionately reduced relative to the skin often lead to an artificial appearance shortly after the procedure. Such noses can disrupt the overall facial harmony.

Functional Danger: Over-reduction of the nostrils and excessive weakening of the nasal structure can lead to breathing problems and nasal collapse in the long term.

Our Goal: For us, the best rhinoplasty is one that respects your natural anatomy, is designed uniquely for you, allows for healthy breathing, and maintains its beauty for years to come.

Remember: Temporary trends are not permanent aesthetic solutions. We rely on a scientific approach rather than trends to achieve the most natural, healthy, and lasting result for you.

That Non-Healing Mouth Sore May Not Be Just a Canker Sore! 😔

1 week, 2 weeks... It's been months. If that sore in your mouth hasn't healed, DON'T WASTE TIME!

A seemingly minor symptom can sometimes be a warning sign of Oral, Tongue, and Lip Tumors, a significant part of the Head and Neck Cancers group.

❌ What Should Not Be Ignored:
Non-Healing Sore: Sores inside the mouth, on the tongue, or lip that persist for more than two weeks are the first and most critical warning sign.

Bleeding and Pain: Bleeding from the sore or a feeling of sensitivity/pain in the area.

Neck Swelling: Palpable, growing lumps in the neck region.

Functional Difficulty: Struggling while chewing, swallowing, or speaking.

Who is Most At Risk?
The most common risk factors are smoking and alcohol consumption. Poor oral hygiene and sharp denture use also increase the risk.

Remember: Do not waste time waiting for masses in this area to "heal," because some sores never do; they are the disease itself. Early-stage diagnosis means a high treatment success rate and the preservation of vital functions like speech and chewing.

If you are experiencing these symptoms or are at risk, consult the expertise of Prof. Dr. Öner Çelik without delay. Early diagnosis saves lives! 📞

Information for Young Patients: Is There an Age Limit for Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)? 🧒➡️🧑

Dear followers, one of the most frequently asked questions by our young patients and their families is: "Is there an age limit for Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) surgery?"

The short and clear answer is: Yes, there is. ✅ This age limit is not merely a legal requirement but a biological and developmental necessity.

The Core Reason for the Age Limit: Developmental Stage
For rhinoplasty surgery to yield healthy and long-lasting results, the nasal bone and cartilage structures must have completed their growth. Intervention before development is complete can lead to distortions in the nose shape and undesirable outcomes later on.

For Girls: Generally around 16–17 years of age.

For Boys: Generally around 17–18 years of age. (These limits may vary slightly based on the individual's growth rate.)

Psychological Maturity is Also Key
The decision for surgery depends not only on physical development but also on the patient's psychological maturity to understand the requirements of the operation and the recovery process.

Upper Age Limit: While there is a lower age limit determined by development, there is no strict upper age limit. Successful rhinoplasty operations can be performed on patients of any age group, provided their general health is suitable.

To determine the most appropriate timing and whether your child or you are at a suitable age for surgery, you can seek the detailed evaluation and expertise of Prof. Dr. Öner Çelik. Healthy and permanent results start with the right timing. 📞
