Breast cancer surgery, its effect on Breastfeeding
When we talk about breast cancer surgery, this means removing the breast or parts of it.
In some cases of early detection, Cancer cells can be removed before it gets worse, and damage to the breast tissue responsible for milk production can be prevented, thus the breastfeeding process can be preserved as much as possible.
As for breast cancer cases that require chemotherapy before surgery or even only chemotherapy without surgical removal, it is not possible to guarantee that the breast will continue to produce milk, or even if the milk produced is usable.
Therefore, it is advised to avoid breastfeeding during and after chemotherapy, but in cases limited to surgery, breastfeeding is safe and possible if the ability to produce milk is possible.
