Erkekte meme dokusunun fazla büyümesi olarak tanımlanan hem fiziksel hem psikolojik olarak rahatsız edici olabilir. Hormonal bozukluklar, karaciğer, tiroid ve böbreküstü bezi hastalıkları, çeşitli tümörler ve bazı ilaçlar sebep olabileceği gibi çoğu vakada da bir etken bulunmamaktadır.
