Drug-related septal perforation is becoming more common worldwide.
Repeated irritation of the nasal septum may reduce blood supply and create a hole between the nostrils — often leading to crusting, bleeding, whistling, and breathing difficulties.

Closing a septal perforation is a highly specialized procedure. It requires advanced experience and meticulous technique to restore both function and comfort.

She initially came with severe nasal obstruction and an appearance she wasn’t happy with.
Today, she enjoys both a natural aesthetic result and restored nasal function.

Revision Septal Perforation Repair – 1-Month Result

This patient had a previous surgery elsewhere for an “unknown-cause” septal perforation. The opening was initially around 5 mm, but after the first operation it had enlarged to almost 2 cm.

We performed a revision closure using a triple-layer technique, and at the 1-month check-up the perforation is fully closed and covered with healthy nasal mucosa.

Septal perforation repair is a complex procedure and requires surgeons who perform these operations regularly each year.
A failed first attempt does not mean it cannot be closed — it simply means the technique must be carefully planned and revised.

Septal perforations are most commonly caused by previous nasal surgeries or co***ne use; other causes are much rarer. Repairing a perforation is a technically demanding operation and not something performed routinely by many surgeons.

In my practice, however, septal perforation repair is part of my weekly surgical routine, and I use advanced, multi-layer techniques tailored to each patient.
