GHTC Next term Presidency Decided by a Single Vote: Poland Elected to Lead GHTC 9th Term
CHISINAU, MOLDOVA – 26 September 2025 – The Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) concluded its 9th General Assembly during GHTF 25 Moldova , with a dramatic, fiercely contested and highly competitive election for the organization's next presiding country, highlighting the democratic vitality and global commitment of its membership.
A Closely Contested Ballot
The election for the 9th Term Presidency (2026–2028) saw two formidable candidates—The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and The Republic of Poland—engage in a fiercely contested process. The intense campaign culminated in a secret ballot, the result of which was decided by the slimmest possible margin.
Following the final tally, The Republic of Poland was elected by a difference of just one vote.
This historic election outcome reflects the strong alignment and strategic visions presented by both nations, reinforcing the high stakes involved in GHTC leadership.
New Leadership and Seamless Transition
President-Elect Mr. Michał Piotr Dybowski (representing Poland) will officially assume the presidency in April 2026 with a flag exchange ceremony at Warsaw, following the successful conclusion of the Republic of Moldova's current mandate.
The GHTC Electoral Committee praised the integrity of the process and the commitment shown by both candidates throughout the General Assembly. The organization remains dedicated to a seamless transition to ensure the continuity of its mission to promote ethical, transparent, and sustainable medical travel worldwide.
