Expert Insights and Patient Perspectives about Stem Cell Treatment for Spinal Cord Injury – Understanding the Condition and Emerging Options

By Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, MD, PhD (C)

A Personal Perspective

I’m Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, a neurosurgeon who has spent over twenty years working with patients who have serious central and peripheral nervous system diseases (brain, spinal and peripheral nerve injuries, tumours, aneurysms, etc.). At that time, I’ve seen the limits of what traditional medicine can do – and I’ve also seen how new ideas can push those limits.

In recent years, my focus has shifted toward stem cell treatments and more recently, exosome-based treatment and their potential to help the spinal cord recovery after injury. Spinal Cord Injury is one of the most difficult conditions we face, and one where even small improvements can change the course of a life.

Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury and the Role of Stem Cell & Exosome Therapy

By Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, MD, PhD (C)

A Personal Perspective

I’m Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, a neurosurgeon who has spent over twenty years working with patients suffering from serious central and peripheral nervous system diseases - brain, spinal, and peripheral nerve injuries, tumors, aneurysms, and more. Over those decades, I have seen the remarkable things medicine can achieve, but I have also seen its limits.

In recent years, my focus has shifted toward regenerative approaches - stem cell treatments and, more recently, exosome-based therapies. These methods are not miracles, but they represent a chance to push those limits a little further, especially in conditions like traumatic brain injury (TBI), where even a small gain can change a life.

The work is still young. There are no magic cures.

Who says, that there is no Hair Transplant for Women?

Losing your hair can be an emotional nightmare for most of us. You watch your hair that has taken years to grow fall out, and there is nothing you can do about it. It is especially difficult for women since hair is symbolic of femininity, beauty, and general self-esteem.

But here’s the good news:

Modern science and technology have changed all that. Hair transplants are no longer just for men! Women can benefit, too, from the new modern hair transplant techniques that are now available and are designed for their particular hair loss patterns.

But there remains a tremendous amount of misinformation that needs to be corrected about hair transplants. Some of it is erroneous, some is outdated, and some of it bears no relationship whatever to female hair loss.

What Exactly Is a Gum Desease and Why Does It Happen?

So you wake up one bright and early day and start to brush your teeth. Just then, you notice that your gums are swollen, miraculously overnight, at that.

That would freak you out, wouldn't it?

Of course, you may be right to attribute it to stress or that you brushed your teeth a bit too aggressively. But there is another option: You could simply be suffering from gum disease.

While this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but based upon those “small” symptoms, it is not unreasonable to assume that there is something more seriously wrong with your gum.

Gum disease is a destructive oral condition that can make you lose all of your teeth if not caught and treated promptly. The great news is that it is one of the most preventable dental problems out there.

In the next parts of this article, we will provide information regarding what gum disease is.

Understanding Muscular Dystrophy and the Role of Regenerative Therapy

By Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, MD, PhD (C)

A Personal Perspective

I am Prof. Dr. Serdar Kabataş, a neurosurgeon who has spent more than two decades treating disorders of the nervous system – the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves – and the complex consequences they impose on the human body. Over time, my work led me to one of the most challenging and emotionally charged conditions in medicine: muscular dystrophy.

In the operating room and in follow-up clinics, I have met children who could no longer run with their friends, young adults whose muscles weakened before their dreams could take shape, and parents who asked the same question I still hear today: “Is there anything else we can try?”

For years, my answer was painfully limited. Conventional medicine could slow the process, ease symptoms, but not reverse it.

What Exactly Is a Dead Tooth and Why Does It Happen?

Your tooth may also “die,” just like any other part of your body.

But, how does that even occur? A tooth “dies” when all of its internal pulp has been completely destroyed. The internal pulp is composed of blood vessels and nerves that supply the tooth with necessary oxygen and nutrients.

The good news? A dead tooth doesn't necessarily have to be discarded. Under the right conditions and treatment, it can still be restored.

So, how will you know for sure whether your tooth is dead? Most importantly, what are the potential treatments for a dead tooth? In this article we will help you find out those answers, along with others.

Managing Bone Deficiency Before Implant Placement

It’s something we have seen happen countless times.

A patient walks into the clinic with a missing tooth and excitement about getting an implant, only to find out there is not enough bone to hold it. Their smile fades instantly.

Bone problems before implants are not the end of the road. They are just a hurdle, and hurdles are made to be scaled.

Think of bone as the foundation of a house. Without a strong base, the walls cannot stand. Implants work the same way. They need a solid, healthy bone to stay secure. If the bone is thin, weak, or has shrunk away over time, we first need to fix that.

That is what this article is all about. It'll walk you through why bone matters, what causes it to weaken, how dentists figure it out, and the solutions available.
