During the congress, I delivered two talks:
• “Immune-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation”
• “ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation”

I also served as a moderator in one of the scientific sessions, helping facilitate an engaging and insightful discussion on the future of kidney transplantation.

My sincere thanks to the organizing committee, fellow speakers, and all participants for creating such a meaningful scientific platform. Sharing knowledge and advancing transplant medicine together is always a privilege.

Ayşegül Hanım () 2017 yılında eşine böbreğini bağışladı. Aradan geçen yıllar boyunca tek böbrekle sağlıklı, güçlü ve aktif bir yaşam sürüyor.

Daha önce de birçok başarıya imza atan Ayşegül Hanım, şimdi de 22 Kasım Masterlar Türkiye Kros Şampiyonası’nda F40 kategorisinde 2.’lik elde ederek hepimize ilham verdi.

Onun hikâyesi, organ bağışının yalnızca bir hayatı kurtarmakla kalmadığını; iki insanın yaşamına umut, güç ve mutluluk kattığını gösteren en değerli örneklerden biri.

Böbrek bağışı bir fedakârlık değil, yaşamın en kıymetli armağanıdır.

In 2017, donated one of her kidneys to her husband. Since then, she has continued to live a healthy, strong, and active life with a single kidney.

Having achieved notable accomplishments before, Ayşegül now adds another milestone by securing 2nd place in the F40 category at the Masters Turkey Cross-Country Championship on November 22.

Her story is a powerful reminder that organ donation is not only about saving one life—it brings hope, strength, and joy to two lives at once.

Kidney donation is not a sacrifice; it is the most precious gift of life.

Fakat nakil sonrası dönemde bağışıklık sistemi baskılandığı için, tıbbi rehberler evde evcil hayvan bulundurmayı çok güvenli görmüyor.

Doppler ultrasonografi ile yapılan damar haritalaması, hangi damarların güvenle kullanılabileceğini belirler ve ameliyatın başarısını doğrudan etkiler.

I am delighted to announce the successful completion of the EKITA collaboration with the Vascular Access Society. The management of AV fistulas post-kidney transplantation remains uncertain in the existing guidelines. To address this, we have developed an innovative algorithm. This includes the concept of ligating a suitable AV fistula one-year post-transplant, followed by its reconstruction when transitioning to hemodialysis. Immediate cannulation of these mature fistulas can prevent catheter placement and mitigate adverse effects, particularly cardiac issues, observed over the years post-transplant. However, further studies are needed to fully understand the cardiac benefits of this method.

I’ll be joining the Donate Life Egypt 2025 Congress, organized by the International Transplant Network and the Turkish Transplant Foundation.
The congress will be held on November 13, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, focusing on advanced surgical techniques in laparoscopic donor nephrectomy.

I’ll be chairing the first session and presenting on
💬 “Different Surgical Techniques; Selective Donor Nephrectomy and Safety” and “The Benefits of Retroperitoneal Access in Donor Nephrectomy: Hand-Assisted and Robotic Techniques.”

As EKITA board, we performed a detailed program for our first event “EKITA Living Donation Kidney Transplantation Symposium” held in Prague on 7–8 November 2025, organised by ESOT–EKITA. I was proud to be the chair of this event.
Together with DESCARTES group of ERA, we haf a successful collaborative meeting. I gave a presentation titled “Switch to Retroperitoneal Access for Donor Nephrectomy: Pros and Cons.”
It was a rewarding experience to be part of this international gathering, exchanging ideas with colleagues dedicated to improving outcomes in living kidney donation. Sharing the space with so many committed professionals made the discussions even more meaningful. The enthusiastic feedback was supportive for the next meeting of EKITA.
