Ramadan brings hope and light to their eyes! 🤍🌙

We have been performing cataract surgeries at our Idlib Eye Center in Syria since 2021. So far, we have restored the sight of more than 15,000 Cataract patients in Syria alone. Now, in collaboration with eiakw, we will help 125 more patients regain their vision throughout Ramadan.

Every patient who regains their sight is a light of hope for all of us!

THE STORY OF SUPER SÜLEYMAN!

Nine-year-old Süleyman opened a new chapter in his life after the February 6th earthquakes. In our MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) project in Kahramanmaraş, he has been teaching his friends the alphabet, encouraging them to draw, and playing games. By sharing the hardships he experienced, Süleyman learned how to heal.

In the story he wrote himself, titled “Super Süleyman,” the hero spreads kindness by distributing medicine to the sick and gifts to crying children during the earthquake.

His heart shows how healing and hope can grow through the hands of children. Süleyman, whom we met through our MHPSS project after the February 6th earthquakes, has not only managed to heal his own wounds but has also become a beacon of hope for those around him.

Through his experiences, Süleyman has matured and helped his friends grow as well, teaching them the alphabet.

“Everyone should help each other and eat together,” says Süleyman as he distributes the sweets from his candy-filled bag to those around him.

Through MHPSS practices, Süleyman transformed his experiences during the earthquake into a superhero story. In his story, called “Super Süleyman,” the hero distributes gifts to crying children and medicine to the sick.

Healing is sometimes hidden in games, sometimes in a piece of candy shared with a friend, and sometimes at the tip of a child’s pencil. Süleyman’s life whispers that one doesn’t need to be a superhero to live heroically, and that a small heart can spark great changes.
