Incontinence is a common condition in children. While urinary incontinence can only be seen at night in some children, it can be seen both day and night in some children. In healthy children, urine control during the day is achieved between the ages of 2 and 4, and at night between the ages of 3 and 5. Urinary incontinence can be seen in 1% of people who have entered puberty. In some children, these complaints disappear on their own. When urinary incontinence occurs in school-aged children, psychological negative effects can be observed on the children. It can create negative concerns in people's friendship relationships. This situation may cause trauma later on. Some potentially serious diseases may cause urinary incontinence.

Underlying diseases may be considered in some of these patients. These can be listed as follows:

🔹Urinary infection
🔹Diabetes
🔹Thyroid
🔹Kidney failure
🔹Epilepsy
🔹Sleeping Irregularities

Stress is defined as the response of the organism to a situation where the balance is disrupted, and any stimulus that disrupts the physical and mental balance of the individual can be a source of stress.

Coping with stress begins with addressing personal factors. How an individual perceives their stressors, their reactions, and coping skills vary among individuals. The first step in dealing with stress is for the individual to recognize their own stress and confront the situation causing stress. Subsequently, gaining awareness of how they perceive this situation, how they react to the stressor, developing strategies, and, if necessary, accepting situations where they have no control over the stressor and letting go of what they cannot change are among the suggested approaches.

🔹If you take naps during the day, make sure they don't exceed 30 minutes. Exceeding this duration can negatively impact nighttime sleep.
🔹Avoid stimulants such as caffeine and ni****ne before bedtime. Consume a high-protein snack or a piece of fruit 2-3 hours before sleep. These foods increase the production of sleep-regulating hormones. However, stay away from grains and sugar as they may disrupt the sleep cycle. Also, avoid oily, fried, spicy, vinegar-based, and carbonated foods and drinks.
🔹Regular exercise contributes to good sleep quality. Even a short 10-minute bike ride or walk significantly improves nighttime sleep. However, avoid intense exercise just before bedtime.
🔹Expose yourself to natural light throughout the day. Ensure your bedroom is not too bright at night.
🔹Establish a relaxing pre-sleep routine, such as taking a warm shower, reading a book, doing light stretching exercises, or practicing meditation.
🔹Avoid overly emotional conversations or environments before bedtime.
🔹Ensure your bedding is comfortable, and your pillow and mattress provide proper support. Your bedroom should be cool, not warm. A drop in environmental temperature is one of the signals that prepare the body for sleep.

Breathe from the Abdomen:
Close your eyes gently and, after settling into a comfortable position, place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Inhale and exhale naturally, but focus on your breath. When practicing this technique, it's crucial to expand your diaphragm, not your chest.

Equal Breathing:
In this breathing exercise, breathing through your nose is essential. Count to four as you inhale and exhale. You can particularly apply this breathing exercise when you feel angry or stressed.

4-7-8 x 7 Breathing Exercise:
We often need to cope with emotions like anxiety, fear, and worry throughout the day. To relax during such moments, you can benefit from the power of the 4-7-8 x 7 breathing exercise.

While practicing this exercise, count to four as you breathe in through your nose. Then, hold your breath, count to seven, and as you count to eight, slowly exhale through your mouth. You may notice a sense of relaxation and a reduction in your worries when you repeat this in 7 sets.
