When you undergo Hammer Toe and Hallux Valgus operation, you are able to walk on the same day without the need for any assistance such as crutches, a walker, or a foot cast. You will walk using your full body weight immediately after the surgery. Depending on your condition and recovery, you may either stay in the hospital for one night or be discharged the same day. Patients coming from other cities typically return to their homes by the third day.
The procedure can be performed under either general or local anesthesia, based on what is most suitable for you.
Post-Surgery Recovery Process
A few hours after the surgery, you will start walking in the hospital wearing your medical shoes. These shoes must be worn at all times while standing or walking for the next 1.5 months.
After this 1.5-month period, and following an X-ray check-up, you can switch to your regular everyday shoes.
Regarding Sports:
– Light activities such as swimming, pilates, and cycling can be resumed starting from week 6.
– More intense sports like kickboxing, functional training, or football can be resumed after 3 months.
