🫀 1977’den Bugüne – Zürih’te PCI’nin Doğduğu Yerde Olmak Bir Onur
Dünyada ilk kez PCI (Perkütan Koroner Girişim) yapılan hastayla Zürih Üniversitesi Hastanesi’nde tanışmak benim için büyük bir onurdu.
1977 yılında, girişimsel kardiyolojinin öncüsü Dr. Andreas Roland Grüntzig, bu hastanede tarihe geçen ilk PCI işlemini gerçekleştirdi.

I had the extraordinary honor of meeting the first patient ever treated with PCI at Zürich University Hospital — the birthplace of interventional cardiology.
It was in 1977 that the visionary Dr. Andreas Roland Grüntzig performed the world’s first percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in this very institution, forever changing the course of cardiovascular medicine.
As an international cardiologist, standing where it all began — and now performing:
🔹 TAVI for aortic stenosis
🔹 Complex, high-risk PCI
🔹 MitraClip & TriClip valve interventions
— is nothing short of humbling.
🙏 I pay tribute to the late Dr. Grüntzig, whose courage and innovation shaped modern cardiology.
And I’m proud to be part of this continuing journey — from pioneering past to a promising future.
