🇬🇧 If your child is writhing in pain, parenting instincts kick in. But do you know what the best way to deal with toothache is? When your child complains of a toothache and you can't go to the dentist right away, you can help relieve the toothache at home.
At the first signs of toothache, check for specific problems. Use dental floss to remove stuck food particles, check the tooth for loosening and mouth sores. That way, you can try to alleviate the symptoms until you go to the dentist.
⭐Rinse Salt with Warm Water
• An important step in relieving toothache is the reduction of oral swelling. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) states that if your child is not old enough to rinse their mouth and spit up, a warm saline solution can be used to reduce inflammation. Mix one teaspoon of regular table salt into a small glass of warm water and let the mixture circulate all over your mouth.
⭐Cold Compress
• Next, you can apply a cold compress to the outside of your child's cheek, near the sore area. The cold compress will help reduce the severity of the pain by causing the blood vessels in the area to narrow. Wrap the gel compress in a thin cloth or ice pack in a soft towel and help the child hold it in place to relieve pressure and swelling inside the mouth.
⭐Clove Oil
• Clove oil can also act as a pain reliever and antibacterial for toothaches. Be sure to dilute the clove oil with something safe for food, such as almond oil. You can use a cotton swab to gently rub the affected area around the tooth. Keep in mind that clove oil can have an unpleasant taste and side effects when eaten, so use it only on children who are too old to swallow it. If you don't have clove oil, you can ask your pharmacist for an oral medication that contains clove oil as an active ingredient and is safe for children.
⭐Even if your child seems comfortable for a moment, it is necessary not to neglect the toothache. For this reason, you should visit a dentist as soon as possible.
