Nanotechnology Research And Application Center The center is developed with approximately 50M TL provided by State Planning Organization and Sabancı Foundation.

SUNUM (Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center)

The SUNUM Center started its operations in June 2011. The center provides valuable additional capabilities to the existent research infrastructure of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Sabanci University. With a contributing team of 40 faculty members, 40 post-doctoral researchers and 100s Ph.D. students, the Center boasts highly effective multidisciplinary research programs spanning the fields of biology, electronics, physics, chemistry, materials science and mechatronics uniting the interests of research groups based within the Natural sciences, Applied sciences and Engineering programs. The high-tech facility is designed to support cutting-edge scientific and technological research related to nanotechnologies including advanced materials, nano-biotechnology, nano-medicine, nano-electronics, micro-nano fluidics, nano-mechanics, nano-optics, micromachining, micro and nano systems and alternative energy sources. The unique infrastructure of the Center includes a state-of-the art, two-story, 7140 m2 building with 800 m2 clean room, 1,300 m2 for multi-disciplinary laboratories and 2400 m2 office and general use, all furnished with high tech equipment to support R&D in nanotechnologies. The building is environmentally friendly, conforming to international LEED and BREEAM standards. Within the scope of this collaborative research environment, a major goal is to expedite the development of novel technologies and advanced products to address the needs of local and global technology leaders. The center will encourage collaboration with Industry, other universities and research institutions to further hone the skills of budding research specialists, which are sought in several advanced technology areas relevant to the interests of Turkey.

PGS - Poly(Glycerol Sebacate) SUNUM e-Store'da.

PGS ilk adımda pre-polimer olarak sentezlenip, kullanım amacına uygun olarak zincir uzunluğu değiştirilebilen bir elastomerdir. Biyolojik sistemlerde ve sulu ortamda hızlıca bozunabilen ancak bozunma ürünleri toksik etki göstermeyen bir biyopolimer olan PGS'nin bu özelliklerinden dolayı özellikle doku mühendisliği ve nano-ilaç taşıma sistemleri gibi alanlarda kullanımı her geçen gün artmaktadır. Biyomedikal ve sağlık alanlarında yenilikçi tıbbi uygulamalar için umut verici çözümler sunan PGS, bu alanlarda yaygın olarak kullanılan biyouyumlu ticari polimerlere (PCL, PLA, PLGA) güçlü bir alternatif oluşturmaktadır. PGS is an elastomer that can be synthesized as pre-polymers, and its chain length can be modified for target applications. As a biopolymer, it can rapidly degrade in biological systems and aqueous media with no known toxicity. Due to these properties, its use has gradually increased, especially in tissue engineering and nano-drug delivery systems. It also offers promising solutions for innovative medical applications in biomedical and healthcare fields as a strong alternative to the biocompatible commercial polymers (PCL, PLA, PLGA) commonly used in these fields. LignoNANO Platformu paydaşlarından Marmara Üniversitesi’nden Prof. Dr. Vezir Kahraman “Lignoselülozik Hammaddelerin ve Atıkların Değerlendirilmesi ile Etkinliği Arttırılmış İleri Malzemelerin Üretimi” projesi hakkında bilgiler veriyor.

Platformda yer alan 29 kurum ve kuruluştan yaklaşık 150 araştırmacı, odunsu atıklar hammaddelerden çevresel etkileri en aza indirilmiş, yenilikçi teknolojiler ve katma değerli işlevsel ileri nanomalzemeler geliştirilmesi ve toplam 29 son ürün, 28 yan ürün ve 29 ara ürünün çıkması bekleniyor.

Prof. Dr. Vezir Kahraman from Marmara University, a stakeholder in the LignoNANO Platform provides information about the project “Production of advanced materials with increased efficiency by utilizing lignocellulosic raw materials and wastes.”

Approximately 150 researchers from 29 institutions and organizations involved in the platform are expected to develop innovative technologies and value-added functional advanced nanomaterials from woody waste raw materials with minimized environmental impacts, resulting in a total of 29 final products, 28 by-products, and 29 intermediate products.

Antibakteriyel Aktivite Tayini Testleri SUNUM’da hizmetinizde.

SUNUM’un mikrobiyoloji altyapısı sayesinde tekstil, gıda, yüzey, malzeme ve biyolojik numuneler üzerinde antibakteriyel aktivite tayini gerçekleştirilmektedir. Bu testler, ürünlerin mikrobiyal direnç seviyelerini belirlemek, antibakteriyel özelliklerini doğrulamak ve güvenilirliklerini artırmak açısından kritik bir rol oynamaktadır.
Mikroorganizmaların farklı ortamlarda hızla çoğalması, ürün kalitesi, insan sağlığı ve çevresel hijyen üzerinde olumsuz etkiler yaratabilmektedir. Antibakteriyel aktivite tayini, antimikrobiyal kaplamalar, ilaçlar, biyomalzemeler ve günlük kullanım ürünlerinin etkinliğini değerlendirmek için gereklidir. Bu kapsamda SUNUM'da gerçekleştirilen testler, antimikrobiyal ürünlerin etkinliğin kanıtlanmasını sağlarken gıda güvenliği ve raf ömrü artırılırmasına katkıda bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca, sağlık ve hijyen standartlarına uyumluluğun değerlendirilmesine imkan tanımakta ve yeni antibakteriyel formülasyonların geliştirilmesini desteklemektedir.

Antibacterial Activity Determination Tests at your service at SUNUM

SUNUM's microbiology infrastructure enables the determination of antibacterial activity on textile, food, surface, material and biological samples. These tests play a critical role in determining the microbial resistance levels of products, verifying their antibacterial properties and increasing their reliability.
The rapid growth of microorganisms in different environments can have negative impacts on product quality, human health and environmental hygiene. Antibacterial activity determination is essential to evaluate the efficacy of antimicrobial coatings, drugs, biomaterials and daily use products. In this context, the tests performed at SUNUM provide proof of the efficacy of antimicrobial products and contribute to food safety and shelf-life enhancement. It also enables the assessment of compliance with health and hygiene standards and supports the development of new antibacterial formulations.

Ziyaret kapsamında kendilerine SUNUM’un araştırma altyapısı, yürütülen projeler ve disiplinlerarası çalışma alanlarımız hakkında bilgiler verirken, Merkezimizin sürdürülebilirliğiyle ilgili sorularını yanıtladık.

We informed them about SUNUM’s research infrastructure, ongoing projects, and our interdisciplinary areas of work, while also answering their questions regarding the sustainability of our Center.

İleri Malzemeler ve Eklemeli İmalat Teknolojileri (İMEİT) Konferansı, Sivas Bilim ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi ev sahipliğinde gerçekleşti.
Akademisyenler, öğrenciler ve sanayi profesyonellerini bir araya getiren konferansta, Merkez Müdürümüz Prof. Dr. Alpagut Kara “İleri Seramik Teknolojilerinde Güncel Araştırmalar ve Uygulama Alanları” panelinde konuştu. Panelde; ileri seramiklerin sürdürülebilir üretimi, yerli teknoloji geliştirme, mikroyapı–özellik–performans ilişkisi ve Türkiye’nin küresel rekabet gücü gibi konular ele alındı.

The Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing Technologies (IMEIT) Conference was held at Sivas University of Science and Technology.
Bringing together academics, students, and industry professionals, the conference featured our Center Director, Prof. Dr. Alpagut Kara, as a speaker in the “Panel on Current Research and Application Areas in Advanced Ceramic Technologies.” The panel addressed topics such as sustainable production and national technology development in advanced ceramics, the microstructure–property–performance relationship in ceramic materials, and enhancing Türkiye’s global competitiveness in advanced ceramic technologies.
