I’m sharing the 4-month result of my patient who has thick skin and a severely crooked nose. I appreciated my dear patient to let me share her beautiful photo and videos 🙏🏼✨🧿.
It’s a fact that there are limits to what we can achieve with rhinoplasty. To be completely honest, significantly crooked noses and very thick skin can sometimes push beyond those limits.
Regarding crooked noses, I always tell my patients this: there is no perfectly symmetrical face, and there is no perfectly symmetrical nose. By nature, the facial and nasal asymmetries in the patients we operate on tend to become even more noticeable. About 90% of us have a smaller left side of the face compared to the right. The midline between our eyebrows (the upper connection point of the nose) is not aligned with the midline between our teeth (the lower connection point). Therefore, what I can promise my patients is a straighter nose — but not a flawless one.
Thick skin, on the other hand, should be thought of like a thick blanket covering the surgical area. Due to its spongy structure, it often swells more, looks rounder, and takes longer to heal. Secondary healing issues are seen more frequently, and managing them may require cortisone injections, retinoid pills, or minor surgical touch-ups.

Op. Dr. Umur Akıner 1987 yılında Denizli'de doğdu.

2004 yılında Adana Fen Lisesi'ndeki eğitimini tamamlayarak Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi'ne kaydoldu. 2010 yılı Tıpta Uzmanlık Sınavı'nda Türkiye 38.si olarak ilk tercihinde yer alan Cerrahpaşa Kulak Burun Boğaz ve Baş Boyun Cerrahisi bölümünde eğitim almaya hak kazandı.

Harvard Üniversitesi bünyesinde yer alan Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary ve House Ear Clinic St. Vincent Hospital'de bulundu. Estetik ve fonksiyonel burun cerrahisi, kulak cerrahisi, kanser cerrahisi ve guatr ameliyatları üzerine eğildi. Acıbadem Üniversitesi Atakent Hastanesi bünyesinde çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.
