The Warrior Poses (Virabhadrasana) traditionally came from the ancient Hindu story behind Shiva’s creation of the warrior ‘Virabhadra’.

The heart of the earth is fire, we’re all born from it. Ancient cultures from many lands have informed the spiritual practices we use today, we can maintain the integrity of the teachings by using the tools with their traditional intention.

The Warrior Poses are actually thought to have been created in the early 20th century by Krishnamacharya. They were popularised by his students - one which has become well known B.K.S Iyengar.

There are certain days in the cosmovisión that may test our energy of a warrior. To remain calm, to not be impulsive, to stay strong, to fuel the fire of our hearts, but not overheat. Just as we each have our own energy, Tonal, Nawal.. each day brings with it a unique potential..

Warrior Poses can be explored on those days to practice balance and strength. How each day, each energy affects you? Unique to you. I’m not re-writing the calendar or yoga, I’m exploring the traditional connection yoga has with astrology, through the lense of this land. Using the tool it is to bring balance daily. The calander is a mental medicine, yoga is a practical one and we celebrate the ancestral wisdom that empowers self-healing in our modern day evolution 🌀
