๐ŸŒ World Sepsis Day 2025 ๐ŸŒ

Today, September 13th, is World Sepsis Day โ€” a global call to action against one of the worldโ€™s deadliest medical emergencies.

Sepsis is the bodyโ€™s extreme response to an infection. It can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and even death if not recognized early. โš ๏ธ

Know the signs:
โ€ข High fever or very low temperature
โ€ข Rapid heartbeat or breathing
โ€ข Confusion or disorientation
โ€ข Extreme pain or discomfort

Early recognition saves lives. If you suspect sepsis, seek medical attention immediately.

Letโ€™s raise awareness and act fastโ€”because sepsis is time-critical. Continue the conversation all September long because it's Sepsis awareness month. You may save a life ๐Ÿ’›

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is just around the corner! ๐ŸŒŽ

Did you know that Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a major contributor of sepsis cases worldwide? As infections become more difficult to treat due to resistance, the burden of sepsis continues to grow.

This November, the Caribbean Sepsis and AMR Alliance is proud to highlight the critical intersection of AMR and sepsis. As the first in the region to incorporate AMR into sepsis advocacy, we are committed to addressing these dual threats to global health.

Be sure to join us for two FREE webinars:

On October 11th, the School of Pharmacy, UWI STA partnered with the Caribbean Sepsis and AMR Alliance to raise vital awareness about the devastating impact of sepsis. This condition, responsible for more deaths than cancer and heart disease combined, is one we cannot afford to ignore ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿšจ

Pharmacists play a crucial role in the prevention, identification, and treatment of sepsis. As medication experts, they ensure that antibiotics are used responsibly, help reduce antimicrobial resistance, and empower patients to recognize early symptoms of infection ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿฆ

Through their expertise and accessibility, pharmacists act as a vital link between the healthcare system and the public, ensuring that sepsis awareness and prevention reach every corner of our communities. Pharmacists are trusted sources essential to stopping sepsis and saving lives! Keep fighting ๐Ÿ’ช
