🌤 The View from Day-1 Clinic...A Sign from Above ❤️

The view from the first day of our CHCsc South Charity Clinic was nothing short of breathtaking; a sky painted with light and promise.

Sometimes, nature sends quiet reminders that we’re exactly where we’re meant to be. The clouds above seemed to form a message of hope, a heavenly sign that compassion and healing are guided by something greater.

As we began this charity clinic, serving patients with care and gratitude, we couldn’t help but feel that this view was a blessing; a reflection of our mission to bring light, comfort, and renewed strength to every heart we touch.

✨ From the heavens above to the hands that heal, may every act of service continue to be guided by grace.

🎃 You Never Know What Spookiness Could Be Lurking... 👻

Not all scares come from the dark...some hide within.
High blood pressure, blocked arteries, or irregular heart rhythms can quietly creep up without warning… until it’s too late. 🫀

This Halloween, don’t let the real fright be your heart health.

Get your heart check-up done- know your numbers, check your rhythm, and keep your heart beating strong.

Because the only thing that should skip a beat this season… is your heart reacting to a good scare, not a health scare! 💓👀 🩺

🎀 As Breast Cancer Awareness Month Comes to a Close...
We’re reminded that awareness doesn’t end with the month, it begin with action.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has shone a powerful light on the importance of early detection, regular screening, and ongoing support for women....and men affected by cancer. But beyond the pink ribbons and campaigns lies a message that should guide us all year round: your health deserves your attention, every single day.

Check your breasts regularly. Schedule your mammograms. Encourage a loved one to do the same. And remember, early detection saves lives.

At Caribbean Heart Care Satellite Clinic, we continue to stand in solidarity with every survivor, warrior, and family whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Just as we advocate for heart health, we believe in the power of preventive care, awareness, and compassion to make a difference.

💖 Let’s carry the message forward, beyond October, because wellness knows no calendar.

30/10/2025

Catheter Ablation, cardiac ablation or radio-frequency ablation, is a non-surgical procedure that is performed by a Cardiac Specialist, an Electrophysiologist (EP), to correct heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias).

Cardiac ablation uses heat or cold energy to create tiny scars in your heart to block abnormal electrical signals and restore a normal heartbeat.

Thin, flexible tubes called catheters are inserted into a blood vessel in your groin, wrist, or neck, that’s guided into the heart with the assistance of imaging technology.

Electrodes at the ends of the catheters are used to stimulate your heart and locate the area that is causing the abnormal heart rhythm. Your EP may use mild radio-frequency heat energy to destroy or “ablate” the problem area, or other types of ablation techniques, such as cryoablation, in which very cold temperatures eliminate the abnormality.
Your doctor will decide which type of ablation therapy is most appropriate for you.

Once the tissue is destroyed, the abnormal electrical signals that created the arrhythmia can no longer be sent to the rest of the heart.

Most people do not feel pain during the procedure, and may simply sense mild discomfort in your chest.

After the procedure, it is always advisable to follow all instructions from your doctor, especially regarding follow-up visits, medication schedules and safe levels of physical activity.

Your doctor may recommend cardiac ablation if you:
🔹Have tried medications to treat an arrhythmia without success
🔹Have had serious side effects from medications to treat arrhythmias
🔹Have certain types of arrhythmias that respond well to ablation, such as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and supraventricular tachycardia
🔹Have a high risk of complications from arrhythmias, such as sudden cardiac arrest.

Normal Sinus Rhythm vs AFib/ AF❤️📈📉

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a common and serious heart arrhythmia accounting for one in three strokes. This happens because the abnormal heart rhythm poses the risk of blood clots forming inside the heart. When clots break off they usually travel to the brain, causing severe strokes.

About 10 percent of ischemic strokes are caused by AF, that is first detected at the time of stroke. Asymptomatic AF which underlies these strokes is not uncommon and can be easily detected by simply taking the pulse, or by ECGs that provide a diagnosis within a few minutes.

Screening for asymptomatic AF in people aged 65 and over, and treating it with anticoagulant medications could prevent thousands of strokes worldwide each year.

⬇️Common symptoms that may occur when an arrhythmia is present, include
• Chest pain
• Disturbed sleep
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Confusion
• Fainting
• Fast pulse
• Fatigue
• Heart palpitations (sensation that your heart is pounding or racing)
• Irregular heartbeats (fast or slow)
• Paleness
• Premature contractions (extra, early or “skipped” heartbeats)
• Shortness of breath
• Stroke
• Sweating

🌎World Stroke Day 2025🧠🫀

❤️ Know Your Blood Pressure!
High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the leading causes of stroke, and often, it shows no symptoms until serious damage has already occurred. That’s why it’s called the “silent killer.”

Your blood pressure measures the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. When that pressure stays too high for too long, it causes the arteries to narrow, weaken, or become damaged, making it easier for clots to form or vessels to rupture, both of which can lead to a stroke.

🧠 How High Blood Pressure Causes Stroke
Ischemic Stroke: Constant high pressure can damage arteries supplying the brain, allowing fatty deposits or blood clots to block blood flow — cutting off oxygen to brain tissue.

Hemorrhagic Stroke: Weak spots in artery walls (called aneurysms) may burst under high pressure, causing bleeding into or around the brain.
In both cases, brain cells begin to die within minutes — making early detection and control of blood pressure absolutely vital.

💪 Protect Yourself❗️ Know Your Numbers❗️
- Check your blood pressure regularly, and even more often if you have a family history of hypertension or heart disease.
- Aim for healthy readings: ideally below 120/80 mmHg, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
- Adopt heart-healthy habits: reduce salt intake, stay active, eat balanced meals, limit alcohol, and manage stress.
- Take your medication exactly as prescribed. Skipping doses can cause sudden spikes.

❤️ Remember
Every small change helps protect your heart and your brain.
Knowing your blood pressure could mean the difference between a stroke prevented and a life changed.

Caribbean Heart Care Satellite Clinic... helping you know your numbers, protect your heart, and preserve your life.
