A little goes a long way...

Humble: the first word that comes to mind when describing Mr. and Mrs. Budhoo. They are better known by younger students as “Sir” and “Miss” and past students fondly call Mr. Budhoo “teach”. Generous, caring, hardworking, strict and patient are all words used to describe Mr. and Mrs. Budhoo by anyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting them.

Dedicated, family oriented, strong Christian parents, with God always as their foundation, Mr. Budhoo and his wife have always worked hard to ensure their children and all the students that have passed through their classes have always gotten their best efforts. This was not limited to teaching however, they extended their involvement into children’s welfare by oftentimes providing much needed books, clothing, food supplies to the families and anything they could possibly do to assist any child or family in need. Never have they asked or expected a reward for their efforts or even publicised their doings.

For the past few years they have been running FREE S.E.A lessons to students in and out of the Couva district and their only requirement: PRAYER. Each session begins with a story geared towards instilling good morals and values into their students followed by opening prayer and always ends with a closing prayer done by the more than eager students themselves. All their efforts are also free of charge. Reviews by children attending their sessions are always positive and they exude absolute delight in their appraisals of their teachers.

Education is not the only thing the Budhoo family has excelled at providing. On the 24th March, 2019, their elder son, Dr. Emerson Budhoo, along with other qualified doctors and his younger brother and medical student, Michael Budhoo, was able to start a free medical clinic for the residents of the Couva area. The clinic allowed patients access to both general and specialist medical care, ranging from standard blood sugar and blood pressure testing, to orthopaedic physical examinations and consultations.
