A keloid scar is an enlarged, raised scar that can be red, skin coloured or darker than the surrounding skin.

Keloids can happen after surgical treatments, body piercings, lacerations, abrasions, tattooing, insect bites, burns and acne. They tend to overgrowth the boundary of the initial injury and can be painful and/or itchy.

At the Consultation Clinic And Medical Spa, we use intralesional steroid injections to treat our patients. These injections work by stopping excess collagen production that can cause scar tissue formation. A series of injections is often required to produce the best results.
