Any pregnancy which requires additional/closer monitoring for you & your baby.

‼️ Hypertension or Preeclampsia
‼️ Uterine Fibroids
‼️ Bleeding during pregnancy
‼️ Multiple Pregnancy - Twins
‼️ Thyroid Disease
‼️ Anaemia
‼️ Sickle cell disease
‼️ SLE - Lupus
‼️ Previous preterm delivery
‼️ Small for gestation age(SGA) baby or Growth Restricted baby(IUGR)
You can enter a pregnancy being high risk
Or you can be low risk & then become high risk
You need to see an Obstetrician.
You will need additional blood investigations; more frequent antenatal appointments; may require medications- tablets or insulin or blood pressure medications.
Many cases do require earlier delivery or induction of labour or Caesarean section.
Every case is unique; special & require an individualised plan of care…. You many also need multiple specialists involved, or multidisciplinary care - dietitian, endocrinologist, nephrologist, Haematologist depending on the medical scenario.
