September is PCOS Awareness month: Let’s Talk About It

PCOS doesn’t have an age limit, and if you’re over 40, it can show up in ways you didn’t expect. Acne, fatigue, weight changes, mood shifts… It’s more than skin deep.

Swipe through to see my journey, the coping strategies that have helped me (and some of my friends), and a few gentle reminders that you are not alone.

PCOS may feel overwhelming, but small lifestyle changes, awareness, and even a calming cup of tea can help you reclaim balance and confidence.

Have you noticed new PCOS symptoms after 40? Share your experience in the comments. Let’s support each other!

Does tea expire? Here’s the truth 👇

👉 Best By Date = when your tea tastes its freshest (flavor + aroma at peak).
👉 Expiry Date = when it’s unsafe to consume. (Rare for properly stored tea!)

💡 Tea doesn’t usually expire, but…………… watch for mould. Moisture is not your friend. If tea is exposed to dampness, it can grow mould, fuzzy spots, musty smells, or clumping are clear signs to toss it out.

✅ How to tell if your tea is still good:

🍃Smell → strong aroma or flat?

🍃Look → bright color or faded?T

🍃Taste → rich or dull?

🌸 Pro tip: Store your tea in a cool,

dry place, away from light and moisture.

Period headaches can feel overwhelming, especially when they hit behind the eyes or at the temples. 🌸 In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chrysanthemum tea is known as a cooling flower tea that helps release stress, ease PMS-related tension, and soothe ‘hot-type’ headaches.

But here’s the key: it works best for stress and heat-related headaches, not cold, dull pains. Knowing your body’s signals helps you sip smarter. 💛

Feeling “heated” after long screen hours, spicy food, or a stressful day? In Traditional Chinese Medicine, chrysanthemum tea is considered a cooling, anti-inflammatory tea that can be used for fevers, hot flashes, headaches, eye strain, and other inflammatory heat symptoms.

It is also Perfect for Trinidad’s hot climate. A gentle, caffeine-free way to reset your body and mind.

Happy Emancipation Day, Fam 🖤💛💚
Today, we remember not just the struggle, but the survival.
Not just the history, but the heritage we continue to build.
We honour the ancestors whose fire still lives in every drumbeat, every dance, every sip of bush tea passed down through generations.

Let’s keep the culture alive with pride, with purpose, and with love.
From all of us at Cosmo Tea & Tea ✨

This Emancipation Day, I’m honouring the foods we’ve inherited and pairing them with teas that celebrate the beauty of being Caribbean, African, and everything in between.

Long before pharmacies, enslaved Africans in Trinidad turned to the land for healing. With limited or no access to formal healthcare, they relied on herbs like lemongrass, soursop, and fever grass to survive and stay well.

These weren’t just remedies; they were acts of resilience.
Today, many of these traditions still live on in our kitchens and cups.

What's that one "bush tea" that was always in your household?

Many Caribbean yards are filled with vibrant hibiscus blooms, beautiful, yes…… but I am not confident it should be consumed.

While some do steep these ornamental petals, there’s little evidence that they offer wellness benefits.

Hibiscus sabdariffa, the one we call roselle or sorrel.
It’s not the flower, but the calyx (that bright red covering around the seed pod) that’s dried and brewed.

Why is it loved….
• Packed with anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidant
• Supports circulation, detox, and healthy blood pressure
• Naturally tangy and tart, which is perfect hot or iced

At Cosmo Tea & Tea, this is the hibiscus in your cup.
Sip consciously.
