Alcohol causes 1 death every 10 seconds.

Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of:
⚠️ Injuries & accidents
⚠️ Liver disease
⚠️ Cancers
⚠️ Heart disease
⚠️ Mental health problems, including alcohol dependence
⚠️ Harm to other people

The less alcohol you drink, the lower the risk.

If you don’t drink alcohol: don’t start!

What are the signs of an overdose?
Recognizing an overdose quickly can save a life. Here are the most common warning signs:

Physical Signs:

Why is early recognition important?
Overdoses can become fatal within minutes. Immediate action—calling emergency services or a doctor—can prevent long-term damage or death.

👉 Call emergency services right away.
👉 Stay with the person until help arrives.

🌞🚧 Climate change is making heatwaves more intense and frequent, putting millions of workers at risk every day.

Especially those in:

🌽 Agriculture
🌆 Construction
🐡 Fishing

High temperatures can cause serious health problems:

🔹 Heatstroke
🔹 Dehydration
🔹 Kidney issues
🔹 Reduce productivity.

🥵 In 2024, the hottest year on record, we saw daytime temps soar above 50°C!

⚠️ It’s urgent that governments, companies, and communities act now.

The new WHO and WMO guidance offers practical solutions:

🔹 Create heat-health policies
🔹 Raise awareness
🔹 Involve workers in planning
🔹 Adopt safe, affordable technologies

✅ Protecting workers from extreme heat isn’t just about health—it’s an economic and social necessity.

Let’s work together to build resilient workplaces, safeguard livelihoods, and fight climate change’s impact.

💪🌍 Everyone deserves safe, healthy work conditions — no matter where they are.

At Dr. Francis and Associates, we believe in educating patients on every aspect of women’s health.

A cryptic pregnancy, also known as a stealth pregnancy, occurs when a woman does not realize she is pregnant until late in pregnancy, or sometimes only at the time of labour.

Unlike most pregnancies, where common symptoms (like missed periods, nausea, or weight gain) alert someone early on, a cryptic pregnancy is “hidden” because symptoms may be:

-Very mild or mistaken for something else (stress, stomach issues, weight fluctuations).

-Masked by irregular cycles or underlying conditions like PCOS, thyroid disorders, or peri-menopause.

-Dismissed, if the person is using contraception and believes pregnancy isn’t possible.

While cryptic pregnancies are uncommon, they are medically recognized and can happen to anyone. Because prenatal care is essential for both mother and baby, early detection is always best—so it’s important to see a doctor if there are unexplained changes in the body.

If you experience unexplained changes in your body or missed periods, it’s important to consult your doctor. Early detection and prenatal care are vital for the health of both mother and baby.

Contact us today to book a confidential consultation. Your health and peace of mind come first.

👀 August is Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month 🗓️

Did you know 1 in 4 children has a vision problem that can affect learning and development?

Regular eye exams can detect issues like nearsightedness, lazy eye, or eye coordination problems early — when they’re most treatable.

Tips for Parents:

Schedule yearly eye exams

Limit screen time & encourage outdoor play

Protect eyes with sunglasses that block 100% UVA/UVB rays

Healthy eyes = better learning, better play, better life.
