Sometimes I give Clients the options of a lower body massage ( hips downwards or upper body lower back and upwards. Lately I’ve been getting a lot of requests for calves. In the day we are walking, sitting and sometimes constantly on the go. A lot of people get cramps in the night and have no idea why…

Here’s the reasons why this may happen ;

Dehydration; a lack of water can lead to mineral loss and not having vitamins and minerals in our bodies can lead to cramps.

Muscle strain and fatigue: Overworking your calf muscles through vigorous or unfamiliar exercise can lead to spasms at night.

Prolonged activity : over working the muscles in the day and not stretching enough can lead to cramps later on in the night.

Underlying medical conditions: Frequent cramps can sometimes be a symptom of conditions such as diabetes, peripheral artery disease (PAD), restless legs syndrome, or nerve-related disorders like peripheral neuropathy.

Massage therapy can help calf cramps by improving circulation, helps the muscle relax and promotes relaxation.
Sometimes keeping the feet elevated can prevent night cramps.

Remember to eat, breathe,hydrate and stretch and to stride into the next day with your feet on the ground, legs relaxed and soles ready to take on each step of the day .

Decompression is slowly applying pressure down on the body and calming the muscles.
This has many benefits , such as …
Calming the mind , relaxing muscles , relieves aches and pains,improves mobility and enhances flexibility.
I’m going to touch on some of these …
Decompression to many feels like a hug ..a gentle touch that slowly and deeply calms the mind and emotions, subconsciously it’s a warm feeling that makes us feel safe. With these safe feelings our mind and muscles relax and our breath sloooows down .
While slowing down we release all tension that allows the muscles to not feel as tense, this then increases blood flow and flexibility .
In massage therapy, I learned that everything is connected and the power of touch can help make us feel safe when we think we are not.
Massage therapy offers many benefits emotionally and physically . When we work on our body’s needs everything connects …it helps us feel whole again.
Finding a massage therapist that works for you is finding someone who understands your body, relaxes the mind and connects your soul.
Without connection then a massage is solely based on technique.

Do you know there’s a few things that happen to most people during a massage ?
Let’s start with a short list of them ;
Talking excessively at the beginning of a massage
This happens when we feel nervous , it’s a defense mechanism before we enter a trust realm …it helps you to not shut off your brain.
Scratching your nose due to a tickling sensation;
This happens when oxygen flows to the face and brain.
Feeling stuffy ; when you lie face down for a long period , everything drains forward ( I sometimes put a small bowl under the bed during a lymphatic drainage massage.)
Twitching ; Twitching happens when the mind slowly begins going into a place of calm . Your nervous system goes into “ trust mode.”
Passing gas ; passing gas is extremely normal as your blood flows faster than normal and bodily fluids are moved around.
Talking in your sleep and twitching ; these happen all the time . Your everyday stressors store in the back of your mind and when you go into a deep calm state you subconsciously act on them.
Lastly , I would like to keep the best for last …
Forgetting your belongings such as keys, watch, phone or jewelry , sometimes even hair clips or a purse .
Believe it or not , this happens to most .

Hey , it’s me Steph …I like to show my face on here once in awhile. As I approach my busy season ( I know, I know we are only approaching October ) My mind has been in gear since August 🤯
I can’t wait to launch what I’m going to have available ..
In both spa services & my beauty product line 💁‍♀️
I use my hands a lot in both industries ..massages to soap making …I’m known for my creativity with both.
I will be launching some beautiful Christmas soaps and packages 🧺 and Ive been thinking about doing a pop-up 🎅 I can’t wait to meet some of you that I have not met yet 🫶🏻 The truth is …I have been seeing my business growing and it would not have been possible without those that say my name in rooms that I’m not in ….my heart has been full . I sometimes walk into stores to check my stock and I feel so touched 💕
Even when my phone rings and it’s a new client and I ask who was the referral .. All I have to say is “it doesn’t go unseen ❤️”
Some people when I ask this question ..I don’t even know 🥹
God has definitely open doors for me and this Christmas , I will be giving back with spa specials and products…I may even start creeping out from Halloween 🎃 👻

What do you think of when you are getting a massage ?
It’s common not to zone out immediately…
It’s almost common to feel slight tickling on your face as oxygen flows. New client’s tend to chat a bit , but as they settle down and get comfortable their breathing suddenly slows down.
when relaxed I’m able to work the muscles better…
I love working the back muscles and working the spine …passing my hands along the lower back and working my up I’m able to feel breaths slowing down.
Our spine is in control of a lot of things ..something that is very important is our posture ..when we feel good it shows ..we radiate confidence.
Our back muscles are responsible for many movements such as ;
Your back muscles help control your posture, let you move and help you breathe. They start at your neck, run down your spine and end just above your hips. Having occasional back pain or stiffness is normal, but when it get’s severe and lingers for long period’s that is when I get concerned ..I try my hardest with every client but when I notice it’s something that I can no longer work with..I suggest seeing a medical professional.

What is the lymphatic system ?
The lymphatic system is a circulatory system made up of lymph vessels, which are much like blood vessels. It drains extra fluid (called lymph) that has passed out of the blood and into tissues and returns it back to the blood.
How does massage benefit this system ?
Massage, particularly lymphatic drainage massage, benefits the lymphatic system by using gentle, rhythmic strokes to stimulate the movement of lymph fluid, helping to remove waste, toxins, and excess fluid from the tissues. This process aids in detoxification, reduces swelling and fluid retention, supports the immune system by promoting the circulation of immune cells, and can improve overall health and well-being.

When Clients come in with aches and pains ..I immediately asks them the following questions ;
What could have possibly triggered it ?
How long has it been lingering ?
Was there any swift movement to the area ?
Is there an underlying past injury ?
Following these question’s we then proceed with light pressure then add more pressure to see what they are comfortable with.
I am very cautious about adding more pain to the injured area ..the goal is to get the muscle to relax.💪
I sometimes use various tools and trigger point therapy .
As the saying goes “ different strokes for different folk’s”☝️
I find it can relate to massages in a humorous way yet very literal.
I’ve had Clients that say “ you have the perfect pressure “ or “ a little deeper please “
I normally start a massage feeling the bone and muscle structure of the client and then ease my way in with different techniques.
I’ve realized my style may not be for everyone but people do feel very relaxed with me😌
I work every single area of the client’s body ..
But before I start I ask “ are you okay with head, face and stomach ?” As most people find these areas sensitive . I love passing my hands along the jaw line and neck and stomach as these areas hold stress ..
I can detect stress levels if the stomach isn’t relaxed or if there is lock jaw.
Most that come always return and say I have a gift.
I think once you find your skill , you should strengthen it. I’m always furthering my education in massages 💆‍♀️
I love understanding the mechanics of muscles.
I also love aromatherapy and using essential oils when necessary.
My goal is to always.. make you feel better ❤️‍🩹

I love beginning a massage ..feet first 🦶
It helps me feel the Clients body temperature and what is going on with them internally . Those that don’t know ..your feet are connected to all of your organs.
I sometimes sense what people have eaten, tension in their upper back / lower / and sometimes their neck and head. I also really love massaging the face and head .. where I’m able to sense if someone grinds their teeth and carries tension from the jaw line down to their neck and shoulders ..
I love what I do and my hopes are always that I make people feel better than when they came in.
I view feet as the base of the human body ..
We walk many grounds and at the end of the day we literally want to put our feet up.
Feet sometimes tell a story …and most say, I have a gift when I touch people .
your feet , your hands and your mind will always take you places ..
And I hope one day ..Sole To Soul Therapy will be the place for you to settle all three 💆‍♀️

How do you celebrate yourself ?
Is it only on special occasions you treat yourself to a massage or a vacation ?
What honestly eases your mind from the busy world ?
I see my Client’s faces as I gently massage their head’s…it’s as though they have been holding on to so many unwanted feeling’s and thoughts.
I see their eyes slowly blinking , their lips taking slow breaths and I feel their jaws unclenching in my palm’s.
I try my hardest to make every client feel relaxed, wanted and celebrated while they are in my presence.
I even send them off with an incense or tea bag.
It’s more than providing a service to people ..I want you to celebrate the ups, the downs and mostly yourself .
I love hearing about your week; your good days and your bad days. I also find it’s the kindest thing when Client’s treat me like family …
We become so close over time …and this too is celebrated with the kindness going back and forth .
Just for Today .. treat yourself with Kindness, an act of self love . Take those deep breaths in a safe space and if it’s with me ..remember , I celebrate you too ❤️

Today I decided to answer most of the question’s I’m frequently asked…here it goes☺️

“ How many massages do you do in a day ?”
- I genuinely can not do more than 3, I also space my Clients out ..I give myself time to have a coffee, eat a snack and just settle my mind 😌

“Do you ever get tired ?”
Yes..I do, but I love what I do and once I find my rythm with a client ..it doesn’t feel like I’m working 😌

“How long have you been a massage therapist?”
I’ve been practicing almost 15yrs 🤯

“ who massages you ?”
I love giving this answer ..
I don’t have a massage therapist 🥲

Do your hands hurt ?
my wrist sometimes hurt so I sometimes switch to my elbows and tools during a massage..I naturally have a flow and listen to my body 😇

“What is your favorite massage to do?”
I genuinely love doing deep tissue massage but I have a love for doing Reflexology 🦶

“ where did you learn massage therapy ?”
I learnt massage therapy under the best teacher Karen Hinds, who is still teaching and is currently working

“ what made you get into massage therapy ?”
When I was a child ..I use to rub my great grand mother’s feet and she told me I have a gift, her words always stuck with me 🫶🏻
