Our laboratory was honored to attend a Career Fair at the Princes Town West Secondary School yesterday. We always try our best to stimulate young minds and yesterday was no exception. Light Scientific competitions, giveaways and loads of fun- all while doing what we love. Thanks to the team who attended and gave voluntarily of their time, Evril N. Allum Lochan, Annalisa N. Sookdeo-Deen and Ms Damila Gibbs- They were all fantastic in their delivery. As students of the Medical Scientific Educational Institute Annalisa and Damila shone bright yesterday.

Hemolysis in a blood sample occurs when red blood cells burst and release their contents into the plasma or serum part of the specimen. Apart from the red discoloration from Hemoglobin in the red cells there are severe changes that also render the sample unfit for testing.

Another very productive day yesterday serving at a voluntary Health Fair for senior citizens hosted by the Barrackpore Improvement Committee and held at the Barrackpore West Secondary School. It was amazing!!!
We offered free screening to the seniors, did a short lecture on Cancer Awareness and had a blast while doing it.
Additionally, 2 of our students volunteered to serve as part of our vision to create well-rounded laboratory professionals with a heart for the public. They performed exceptionally well.
