Join us NOW! as Amanda Wright shares the remarkable journey of her son, Asher, from struggling to recognize letters in kindergarten to thriving as an eighth grader with new confidence, options, and a bright future.

As a young child, Asher was inquisitive, energetic, and “all boy”—he loved being active and outside, with no interest in sitting to color or practice letters. The only time he would sit still was to listen to his mom read books. While in private kindergarten, it became clear he was having great difficulty with writing and didn’t know many letters. He was miserable and begged to stay home. Despite starting occupational therapy, his handwriting didn’t improve, and Amanda was told to practice letters more at home. Highly trained as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Amanda knew she had no training about learning difficulties or dyslexia and was puzzled and very concerned by Asher’s struggles. She did not want her child to hate school and knew he had to develop essential academic skills to be successful in school too - he was plenty smart enough, that was abundantly evident from just talking to him.

The family then moved Asher to a Montessori school, where caring teachers helped him enjoy school again—but things still didn’t “click.” At age 7, he was privately tested and diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. A highly qualified tutor began working with him several times a week using Orton-Gillingham methods, but after a year his phonological awareness had barely improved. The tutor admitted progress was painfully slow and, by chance, the tutor had met Dr. Tim Conway. She asked if she could share Asher’s testing results with him, believing he might be able to help. Soon after, Amanda and her husband reached out to Dr. Conway and brought Asher to The Morris Center (TMC) in Ocala, Florida.

Through TMC’s high-frequency, evidence-based and research-based interventions to empower language, sensory, motor, attention/focus, literacy and more Asher made transformative progress. At age 7, Amanda says “The first time I ever saw him catch a ball was at TMC!!” Asher’s developmental challenges were not just Dyslexia, but included ADHD, Dyscalculia, sensory and motor skills too. However, today, 5 years after he attended The Morris Center for 5 months, Asher is thriving in 8th grade at his local public school. He no longer requires an IEP, attends regular classes, and enjoys school. While he keeps a 504 plan that provides extra time on tests, he rarely uses it. His spelling can still be a challenge without his laptop, but it is now phonetic and legible—something that was once impossible.

Amanda reflects on the incredible difference: TMC not only gave Asher the skills he needed, but also gave their family peace of mind and hope for his future. As she says, “No more constant worrying!!” TMC opened so many more options for Asher. NOW, Amanda and her husband are certain that with his grit and work ethic, Asher has the skills to do anything he sets his mind to!

Don’t miss this week’s inspiring story of transformation, grit, and empowerment—proof that with a scientifically tested and proven intervention from www.NOWprograms.com and provided at www.TheMorrisCenter.com, children with dyslexia and dysgraphia can unlock their true potential and end years and years of struggles and not need more tutoring.

Too many middle schoolers are struggling to read and it’s not their fault. A new report shows just how big the gap has grown, but also reminds us: with the right instruction, it’s never too late. 📚💪 Read more about what’s happening and how we can help.

“The highlight of the report is that learning to read is an ongoing journey that does not end in elementary school,” Daughtery says. “Middle school students are still learning to read, with a focus on more complex text, decoding words with more than two syllables, building knowledge and vocabulary, and reading fluently.”

If you know someone that is struggling to decode or comprehend, contact NOW! Programs for more information.

A recent report from NWEA found that middle schoolers are showing a noticeable decline in reading abilities. Here, we’ll unpack what the researchers uncovered, what factors are influencing middle school literacy problems, and how parents can help kids develop and hone their reading skills.

❓Why Is My Bright Child Still Struggling to Learn? One Family’s Autism Breakthrough at The Morris Center.
At The Morris Center, we don’t just diagnose—we dig deeper to understand what’s getting in the way.

Through comprehensive testing, we uncover the root causes of learning and developmental challenges. Then, we build and implement a personalized Empowerment Plan to strengthen the brain-based skills your child needs to thrive.

That’s exactly what helped Abid.

💡 Abid began reading at just 18 months—but by age 2, he had stopped responding to his name or answering questions. Diagnosed with Level 2 Autism at age 3, he began therapy: ABA, speech, and OT.

While he made some progress, things stalled when his school lowered expectations and placed him on a less challenging academic path.

His parents believed he was capable of more—and they were right.
Their search led them to The Morris Center in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Today, Abid is:
✔️ Speaking more—without being prompted
✔️ Calmer and more self-aware
✔️ Gaining confidence and skills
