🎉Happy Birthday, LivHealth: Today we turn 5.
I still can’t quite believe we made it 🥹.
I remember in my early days of medical school someone asked me,
“What kind of doctor do you want to be?”
I didn’t have a clear answer at the time, but I remember saying,
”I think I’d like to be the Minister of Health so I can help improve healthcare back home.”
How naïve I was.
During one summer, I had the chance to observe the public system up close. The commitment, the pace, the sheer volume of need...It takes remarkable people to serve in that environment. I have deep respect for those who do, yet somehow I felt that my path was elsewhere.
I knew I wanted to support the system, not stand apart from it. For me, the best way to do that was to create something that could fill gaps, complement what already exists, and bring care directly to people who needed it. That’s how LiVHealth was born. A solo doctor-prenure, traveling from patient to patient trying to make a difference.
To be honest with you, I have no idea how we made it to 5 years.
Some call it determination, others call it faith, I say a lot of sleepless nights😅😂.
I remember one day in particular, my friend called me from England. She knows I never cry, but when she casually asked, “How are you?" The tears just poured through the phone.
“The ship is sinking,” I sobbed.
In that moment the weight of the financial risk was crushing. I was trying to do public service through a private model. I was giving everything I had. My energy, my spirit, my soul, but it felt like it was all falling apart.
She said something I’ll never forget: “Suck up your pride. Be grateful. Go find help.”
I truly believe divine intervention played a role.
The way doors opened, the way people showed up…The timing of it all. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always felt guided.
The staff who’ve joined us; Each one has left a mark.
The staff who’ve left; Each departure taught me something.
Every single experience has shaped me into a better leader and deepened my commitment to serving this country.
I will always be grateful.
5 years!
Only 25% of companies make it to this milestone.
We made it.
And we’re just getting started.
