Myth vs Truth

Having scoliosis doesn’t mean you can’t participate in sport or physical activity! It's always important to try to keep fit and active and keep your back muscles strong. Check with your doctor or specialist about what sports can be done after correction or during treatment for a spinal curvature.

Although developmental milestones are obtained at various ages, most babies will sit unaided by the age of 8 or 9 months.

Delays in sitting are sometimes contributed by the use of restrictive devices, such as seats and walkers. Such devices may impede the motor development that is required to sit, roll, crawl and walk.

Instead, infants require more unrestricted floor time, allowing proper motor development to occur naturally.

Moving regularly throughout your day is a great way to prevent back and neck pain related to prolonged sitting and technology use.

At a minimum, be sure to implement the 30:2 rule. That is, after every 30 minutes of sitting, stand up and move for at least 2 minutes 🤩

Make PHONE time - STANDING time.

This is the perfect way to take a functional break from sitting while preventing some kinds of BACK PAIN.

Meet your family Chiropractor!

Hello! My name is Dr Michelle Hubbard and I am super excited to bring Nurture Family Chiropractic to the people of Trinidad.

In 2008 I completed my chiropractic degree, which consisted of a 3 year Bachelor of Chiropractic Science (B.Chiro Sc) and a 2 year Master of Chiropractic (M.Chiro), at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

Many of the years since I graduated have been spent practicing within a large family chiropractic clinic alongside many wonderful chiropractors. It was during this time that I gained a love of working with newborns, children and pregnant mums.

To further pursue this love and develop my knowledge and skillset further within this field, I chose to complete a 3 year postgraduate course through the International Chiropractic Association (ICA). It was such an amazing journey to learn from some of chiropractic’s greatest paediatric leaders while also becoming a specialist in the field I enjoy so much. In 2015 I completed this qualification and was awarded with a Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Paediatrics (DICCP).
