**SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT**

We are just a month away from our 13th Annual Healthcare Conference happening at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman, 20-22 October! Here is another feature on one of the many great speakers and presentation the conference will include!

Dr. Ravi Kishore is the Chief Interventional Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist and Director, Cardiovascular Sciences at Health City Cayman Islands. His presentation is titled, "The Holy Grail of Cardiovascular Risk Mitigation" and will take place on Friday morning of the conference.

Dr. Ravi Kishore has over 25 years’ experience in the field of cardiology and is the Interventional Cardiologist, Senior Adult Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Health City Cayman Islands.

He completed his studies in 1995 and has worked in various hospitals across southern India. He established the first dedicated electrophysiology unit in Hyderabad-Medicity Hospital in 1995 and was among the first in the country to introduce RF Ablation for heart arrhythmias and ICD therapy. Since then, he has been associated with Narayana Health (the parent unit of Health City Cayman Islands) and has successfully established Electrophysiology services across several NH Hospitals in India before moving on to Cayman Islands in 2014 to establish the cardiovascular services.

At Health City Cayman Islands, he has successfully established one of the best cardiology and electrophysiology units in the Caribbean and has been responsible for kick starting the angioplasty and RF ablation services in the Cayman Islands and for introducing other interventional procedures like TAVI, leadless pacemaker implantation, cryoablation for AF, LA appendage closure and renal denervation therapy for hypertension. To date, close to 3,000 interventional adult cardiac procedures have been done at Health City Cayman Islands.

Dr. Aritra Mukherji is our interventional Paediatric Cardiologist at Health City Cayman Islands

With excellent knowledge and sharp clinical skills he has vast experience in dealing with various forms of congenital and acquired heart diseases in children. The plight of children with congenital heart disease is a constant motivation for Dr. Aritra. He has undertaken special training in Fetal Echocardiography and is responsible for the successful management of complex cardiac problems in neonates and young infants. During his career he has performed over 1500 device implantations and over 1000 fetal echocardiograms.

One of the biggest issues facing recipients of a kidney transplant is finding a healthy donor with a matched blood type. In the case you have limited time for treatment and you donor is not a matched blood type, there is hope in the form of an ABO incompatible kidney transplant.

This procedure is offered at our advanced partner medical facilities with great success rates. The donor kidney is prepped while the donor undergoes what is called "desensitization" to prevent rejection of the organ thus allowing the donor to live a much better quality of life. In late 2017, a young Caymanian man underwent CPR for almost 90 minutes before being placed on advanced life support. Our emergency medical team refused to give up.

A complicated 10-hour surgery to remove life threatening blood clots from his lungs followed, saving his life.

Health City was pleased to have shared medical insights about Neurosciences, one of our well-established strengths, with fellow professionals in the Cayman Islands at a recent Continuing Medical Education event.

Presentations focused on advances in managing Acute Ischemic Strokes, migraines and new approaches to diagnosis and treatment; as well as spine trauma and functional neurosurgery.

Resident practitioners Dr. Romnesh de Souza, Dr. Manjunatha Kandala and Dr. Sumana Pallegar were joined by Dr. Rose Giammarco of the Neurology Headache Practice in Canada. Dr. Rose will soon be assisting with a dedicated Headache Clinic at Health City.
