Medville now offers testing for hpylori by using the urea breath test. This detects the actual presence of the bacteria rather than the commonly used antibody test.
The advantages of this testing are :
1) Detects the actual bacteria , which is needed to follow up on if eradication by triple therapy was successful.
2) Far less false negatives than antibody testing.
3) The antibody test remains positive for years (between 7 to 10 years or even for life) so one would not know if they actually have an infection or not , or whether treatment received worked or not.
