👩🏽⚕️ “We stay at work for you, please stay at home for us!”😷
•
🧬COVID-19 is a very contagious respiratory illness which can affect multiple age groups with a range of symptoms from none, to mild, moderate and severe. 🤧🤒🤢🤕😷
•
🦠As the cause of COVID-19 is a coronaVIRUS, the only way we can treat mild-moderate cases is via symptomatic treatment (that is, we treat your fever, cough, cold, body aches etc) and currently there is no known cure or medication that can “kill” the virus.
•
💊If any complications occur (example: - superimposed bacterial infections, patients MAY be treated with antibiotics and other supportive measures)
•
🗺 We have been seeing so many stories globally about the way in which this virus has wrecked havoc on societies, the health system and placed pressure on medical personnel. With all this information, please listen to the warnings of countries which did not implement measures to contain spread quickly enough.
•
‼️HELP US FLATTEN THE CURVE!!!!‼️
What does this mean? 🤷🏽♀️
Simple measures such as self isolation, social distancing and leaving the house for ONLY ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES/APPOINTMENTS (urgent medical visits, groceries and medical supplies) can help contain the spread of this highly contagious disease.
•
🤔If you believe you have a cough/cold/fever/shortness of breath or may be at risk for contracting COVID-19, many hotlines are available. Please contact these numbers and you will be guided accordingly. (877-WELL)
•
🙅🏽♀️Refrain from showing up to health centres/doctors offices unannounced if you believe you are unwell and show flu like symptoms. A simple call 📞beforehand will be greatly appreciated so that measures can be put in place to minimise contact and transmission from your arrival to when you leave the office.
•
⚠️Remember, you may survive the virus with only minimal signs and symptoms, but please take a moment to consider those who have underlying chronic medical conditions, are immunocompromised and are elderly. These persons may not be as lucky as the young and healthy at fighting the virus.
•
👩🏽⚕️We medical professionals are doing our part and using the resources provided by the government...long days in face masks, eye shields and gowns which make it difficult to breathe, cause us to feel excessively hot and even claustrophobic at times. But we don’t complain, we get up everyday to fight the same battle for the greater good for our patients.
•
😷We are doing our part to protect ourselves and you in an attempt to minimise contact and spread. Please do your part to protect us as well. Stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Cases have been rising daily and will continue to do so unless we as a nation are proactive and follow the recommendations of the government, ministry of health and your doctors. 🇹🇹
