What activities should you avoid?

Activities which increase the risk of falling or trauma to the abdomen should be avoided.

Significant trauma to the abdomen increases the risk of placental separation and consequently fetal death.

Additionally, activities which may be acutely stressful to your joints should also be avoided.
Examples: football, basketball, horseback riding, karate and boxing
Increased risk of falling can occur with skiing, surfing, or rollerblading.

Though yoga is generally safe, extreme positions increase the risk of stress on your joints and increase the risk of falling. Hot yoga should be avoided all together as this may lead to increases in body temperature which could be detrimental to your unborn child.

Long Term Risks!!

13% of infertility could be attributed to smoking and these negative effects persists even if IVF is undertaken to treat infertility.

Additionally, smoking leads to increased risk of high blood pressure, asthma and even lung cancer. All of these problems negatively affect pregnancy, your quality of life and reduce your life span.

Talk to your doctor about smoking cessation programs if you are dealing with this addiction.
