Our Story
Travel back in time with us to the year 1827 on the island of Barbados where a baby girl named Mary Sarah Belgrove was born to an African slave. As Mary got older she embraced her role as the undertaker on the plantation burying the slaves who passed away.
In 1867, charting the trajectory of her destiny and that of her children, Mary and her sons made their way to Trinidad opening a funeral parlour in St James and Victoria Streets, San Fernando. She inculcated in her sons the invaluable lesson of providing exceptional service to bereaved families. This fundamental philosophy underscores the vision and mission of the Belgroves Group of Companies (B.G.C) and has led the organisation into modernity.
The BGC, fortunate to have been led by forward thinkers and innovators with a desire to provide exemplary service, pushed the envelope by forcing the ethicality of the industry and setting benchmarks for quality standards. Fast-forwarding to the present, Belgroves Group of Companies now have multiple locations including: San Fernando, Point Fortin, Chaguanas, Tobago and Trincity.
Trincity hosts the majestic Orange Grove Memorial Gardens (OGMG); part of the Cemetery Management Co. Ltd. It is a contemporary, high-tech cemetery that is designed with a series of underground chambers (crypts); each having a capacity of four (4) encryptments. Surrounded by opulent, tropical plants, the OGMG is environmentally friendly; safe and secure with 24-hour security. A 26-foot Eternal Flame Water Fountain irradiates the skies in remembrance of your loved ones; making it a tranquil and picturesque retreat, where your loved ones can Rest in eternal Peace.
