According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), symptoms of the disease include high fever, dry cough, tiredness, and in some cases diarrhoea, sore throat and other flu-like symptoms.

People are urged not to go immediately to health facilities as this may pose a risk in spreading the virus.

"At the doctor’s office or hospital/health centre, you are encouraged to disclose all the information regarding your trip and each of your symptoms and their severity. If your doctor determines that your situation warrants a coronavirus test, they will administer a swab at the back of your throat, on your inner cheeks and mouth.

Your doctor will then have your sample taken to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in Port of Spain, where doctors will first test for coronavirus. If that test is negative, your sample is destroyed and you will be informed. If it tests positive, doctors will then do further testing to determine whether you are suffering from this particular strain of coronavirus.

If this second test reads positive, measures to have you quarantined and treated will be implemented."

A random blood sugar (RBS) test is the testing of the blood sugar level at any time or random time of the day. Glucose levels are low in the morning before the first meal of the day and rises after having a meal. The levels vary between prior to eating and post meals level.

If RBS test done within one or two hours of eating, the normal value should be ~180 mg/dl as per the American Diabetes Association and the RBS normal range should be anywhere between 80 mg/dl and 130 mg/dl prior to eating for healthy blood sugar levels in the body. A person with a reading of 200 mg/dl and above is most likely has a provisional diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus..

Further Testing might accompany an RBS, such as a Fasting Blood Glucose, HBA1C, Oral Gulcose Tolerance Test.
