The result?
✅ Immediate improvement in grip
✅ Less pain with loading
✅ Better elbow mobility

Tennis elbow isn’t always just about the muscles and tendons—sometimes improving how the joint moves can be a game changer.

Working on knee extension after ACL-a critical milestone in ACL rehab is full knee extension.mov

ACL Rehab: Why Full Knee Extension Matters 🦵

One of the most important milestones after ACL reconstruction is restoring full knee extension early in rehab.

Being able to fully straighten the knee helps with:
✅ Normal walking mechanics
✅ Reducing stiffness
✅ Improving quad activation
✅ Decreasing strain on the knee
✅ Building a strong foundation for the next phases of rehab

It may seem like a simple movement, but regaining knee extension is a key part of restoring function and setting the stage for a safe return to activity.

Every phase matters—and getting the basics right early can make a big difference throughout recovery.

We might only see you for part of your day… but we’re definitely thinking about you long after you leave the clinic 💙

Your progress matters to us beyond the appointment:
✔️ The first workout back
✔️ The weekend plans you’ve been working toward
✔️ The milestones that happen outside our walls
✔️ The life you’re getting back to

Physical therapy is more than exercises and appointments—it’s about helping you return to the moments that matter most.

And yes… we’re absolutely wondering how that big game / hike / trip / recital went 😄

INSIDE THE CLINIC | Parkinson’s Balance & Cognitive Training 🧠⚖️

Rehabilitation for Parkinson’s disease goes beyond simple movement exercises.

In today’s session, balance training was combined with cognitive challenges to help improve:
✅ Stability and coordination
✅ Core control
✅ Dual-task performance
✅ Functional movement confidence

By challenging both the body and the brain at the same time, we help patients improve how they move and respond during everyday activities.

You may not always see the complexity behind the exercise — but every movement is intentional and tailored to the patient’s needs and goals.

At Total Rehab, rehabilitation is about building safer, more confident movement through evidence-based care.

MYTH BUSTER WEDNESDAY ❌
“Pain during exercise means progress.”
Not necessarily.
There’s a difference between:
✅ Muscle effort and fatigue
❌ Sharp, worsening, or persistent pain

In rehabilitation and training, more pain does not automatically mean better results.

Real progress comes from:
• Proper technique
• Gradual loading
• Consistency
• Appropriate recovery
• Exercises matched to your current stage of healing

Pushing through the wrong kind of pain can sometimes delay recovery or aggravate the problem further.

At Total Rehab, we focus on evidence-based progression — helping patients build strength, mobility, and confidence safely and effectively.

Your body gives feedback for a reason. Learning how to interpret it matters.

INSIDE THE CLINIC | Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Therapy & Training 💪

Strength and muscle mass are important for more than just performance — they play a major role in overall health, function, and longevity.

Traditionally, building strength requires lifting heavy loads (typically more than 70% of your maximum effort). But in rehabilitation settings, that isn’t always possible — especially after surgery or injury.

That’s where Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Therapy comes in.
BFR uses a specialized cuff applied to the arm or leg to partially restrict blood flow during exercise. This allows the muscles to work much harder using significantly lighter weights — often only 20–35% of a person’s maximum load.

The result:
✅ Improved strength
✅ Increased muscle activation
✅ Reduced stress on healing tissues
✅ Safer early-stage rehabilitation

BFR training should never cause pain, numbness, or tingling. A strong muscle “burn,” however, is completely normal 🔥

BFR can be beneficial for:
• Post-surgical rehab
• ACL recovery
• Muscle weakness after injury
• Older adults improving strength & balance
• Athletes maintaining muscle mass
• Osteoarthritis management
• General fitness & endurance training

At Total Rehab, we use evidence-based tools like BFR to help patients recover safely and effectively while progressing toward their goals.
