High blood pressure (hypertension) is often called the “silent killer” because it usually doesn’t cause any noticeable symptoms, especially in the early stages. Many people have it for years without knowing.

Remember, usually one reading won’t give the full picture, it requires multiple readings in order to make a diagnosis. In some instances when it is extremely elevated, urgent treatment may be necessary . Consult with your doctor today.

Regular check-ups and understanding your numbers can help keep your heart healthy!

Why Fingers Get Infected

A finger infection can start from something as simple as:
• A small cut or scratch
• Hangnails or nail biting
• An ingrown nail
• A splinter or blister
• A manicure or fake nails

Germs can enter through broken skin and cause redness, swelling, pain, or pus.

Tip: Keep cuts clean and dry. Don’t attempt to stick or drain the swelling by yourself, this can cause more hand than good.

See a doctor as soon as possible if pain, swelling, or pus appears—it’s easier to treat early.

Here are some before and after photos of one of our patients showing complete resolution of his finger infection after treatment.

Here is a photo of a urinary catheter that we inserted during a house call for a patient who had pus in the urine.

What is a urinary catheter ?

It is a flexible tube used to drain urine from the bladder when a person cannot urinate naturally.

How to Care for a Urinary Catheter:

• Keep the catheter and surrounding area clean to prevent infections.
• Ensure the drainage bag is positioned lower than the bladder to allow urine to flow properly.
• Drink plenty of fluids unless restricted by your doctor.
• Watch for signs of infection, such as fever, foul-smelling urine, or discomfort.

If you notice pus in your catheter, don’t ignore it—seek medical attention as soon as possible to prevent complications.
