Not time-outs. Not taking everything away. Not yelling or threatening.
Punishment might stop the behavior in the moment but it doesn’t teach skills.

It doesn’t build trust.
It doesn’t get to the why behind the behavior.

✅ Can they follow 1–2 step instructions?

✅ Can they stay seated for short periods?

✅ Are they able to transition between tasks?

✅ Can they tolerate group settings or new people?

✅ Are they able to communicate wants/needs (with words, signs, or visuals)?

✅ Can they manage simple self-help tasks (like eating or asking for the bathroom)?

✅ Do they have support with emotional regulation or meltdowns?
