Reminder: Please call...
A few weeks ago, a business colleague was found dead in his home. He was in his mid forties. He was dressed for work and about to leave home. Based on the cause of death, he may have experienced extreme pain, collapsed, been unable to move owing to the severity of the pain, experienced difficulty in breathing and panicked. There is a small window of survival, but there are still possibilities for survival. No one missed him at work, despite his being there religiously, and no one, after not getting through to him, called others to check in to see if he was alright. He was one with his phone constantly ringing off the hook. It was not until evening time, when the rigours of the day were ending, that he was found. Sometimes we may take for granted that someone is just busy/ hectic and not returning our calls or messages. Or we are just too busy/ hectic ourselves. (Not because I call you means that I am less busy either). However, it does not hurt to double check with the person's family member if you can or have a contact, their friend or even the workplace... just to make sure that they are alright. It may save their life. Unfortunately, that day was not the day that I called or messaged and I am saddened. He always responded almost immediately, even if to say that he would get back to me. Additionally, sometimes those pains that we are experiencing are signs the body is telling us that something is really wrong. It may not be just a simple pain that would go away and when we take pain killers and move on with our day, the root of the problem is still there and only getting worse as pain killers etcetera mask the problem. Things usually do not happen overnight and they are a result of accumulation over a period of time.
