🎤【Four Years, One Bridge|Speaking for Life at a Crossroads of Faith】🌏✨

Yesterday, I was invited to deliver a luncheon speech at the Sarawak Neurosurgery Conference 2025.

The venue? The UNIFOR Complex — a landmark established by the Sarawak government to honor religious harmony and cultural diversity.
But the most amazing part? I only discovered the significance of this place after arriving in Kuching.
What seemed like coincidence felt more like a divine arrangement — a quiet call from the universe. 💫

My talk was titled “Four Years, One Bridge.”
Over the past four years, our team has built a medical bridge — step by step, from Taiwan to Malaysia, especially Sarawak — across cultures, languages, and systems.
Not to show off, but because I truly believe: someone is waiting for us.

🌱 I’m not a native English speaker, and I’m no professional presenter.
But I stood on that stage with full sincerity and heart.
This wasn’t just a report — it was an invitation:
To see how, even across great distances, we can move closer, together.

In front of me sat neurosurgeons, nurses, and students from all over Malaysia.
My voice may not have been polished —
But I hoped they could hear the message behind it:
We’re here to walk beside you, and care for more patients — together.

🌟 Thank you to all the visible and invisible forces behind me —
To my partners on the ground, and to the higher wisdom and guardians I deeply trust.
This talk wasn’t mine alone.
It was a chapter of connection — between this land, its healers, and this moment in time.

🇹🇼🤝🇬🇺 A Night of Warmth, Friendship, and Shared Purpose

It was a heartfelt honor to host Senator Tina Muna Barnes of Guam and her family during their recent visit to Taiwan.

In her touching message, she wrote:

“God has truly blessed us to have you and your team take care of all of us… You are truly God Sent to our people of Guam! Please know that when you come to Guam, we want to take care of you as you take care of us here in Taiwan!”

Her words reminded us that international medical service is never just about procedures or protocols—it is about relationships, trust, and compassion across borders.

Thank you, Senator Tina, for your leadership, your warmth, and your unwavering care for your people.
We at CMUH will always do our best to support the people of Guam—with open hearts and professional excellence.

This week brought a meaningful encounter — and a heartfelt trust that traveled across the ocean. 💕

We were honored to welcome Senator Tina Muna Barnes, Guam’s longest-serving senator and one of the island’s top 25 most influential women, as she personally accompanied her beloved sister to our hospital for treatment.🥰

Tina has always been a strong friend to Taiwan. She has deep ties with the Taiwanese community in Guam and has spoken up for Taiwan on global platforms. She has also worked tirelessly to support direct flights between Guam and Taipei. Her dedication and support mean so much.❤️

This time, she chose to place her trust in our team to care for someone she loves deeply — and we are truly thankful for that.

We would also like to sincerely thank .ScottShay for the referral and his continued trust in our team.🙏

A special thanks to Dr. Chen, Dr. Kuo, and their excellent team, who have helped several patients from Guam overcome brain tumor challenges with their skill and compassion.🙏

From Guam to Taichung, this is more than a medical journey — it’s a continuation of connection and care.🌈
Thank you, Tina, for believing in us.
We’ll continue doing our best to make Taiwan’s healthcare a warm and trusted destination for all who come.

💙 This kind of medical companionship is a true connection across the Pacific — and it reminds us that love and trust are the most beautiful beginnings in healthcare.

🌟 With Deepest Gratitude to Prof. Dr. Ehfa Safawi 🌟

On behalf of our entire team from China Medical University Hospital, I want to express our heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dr. Ehfa Safawi, Director of UNIMAS Teaching Hospital — a truly super lady 💫 full of vision, strength, and heart.

Without her guidance and generous endorsement, we wouldn’t have had such smooth access to the Deputy Premier’s office, nor experienced such a rich and unforgettable journey in Kuching.

🏥 Her personal tour of UNIMAS Teaching Hospital was a masterclass in thoughtful hospital design. From the restroom that directly connects to the pathology lab (brilliant!), to the hospital’s impressive paperless system — we saw how this institution may soon become Sarawak’s first fully digital, AI-powered hospital. Truly inspiring!

And of course… 🍜 the laksa!
That delicious bowl opened not just our taste buds, but also the hearts of our physicians. It was the perfect mix of local flavor and heartfelt connection.

We learned so much from Prof. Ehfa — about medicine, about Sarawak, and about what bold, compassionate leadership looks like. Thank you for your generosity, authenticity, and for making us feel so welcome.

We look forward to more shared missions ahead. 🙏✨

With respect and admiration,

🌟 Heartfelt Gratitude to Professor Chew Keng Sheng 🌟

On behalf of our entire team from China Medical University Hospital, I’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Professor Chew Keng Sheng, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UNIMAS, for his incredible leadership and unwavering support.

Without his passionate guidance, thoughtful coordination, and warm hospitality, this 250-participant medical symposium in Kuching would not have been possible.

Professor Chew, your dedication to academic exchange and your generous spirit made this collaboration not just successful, but truly meaningful. We are truly honored to work alongside you.

Looking forward to many more shared missions ahead. 🙏🌏

一行八人,不帶兵刃,帶來的是最堅實的醫療實力與滿滿的善意。
我們不是俠客,卻走進人群;

🌈 A Wish to the Universe
I made a simple wish:
May I build more beautiful connections on this island,
and may the love of Taiwan’s healthcare reach across the Pacific to those who need it.

❤️ It Started with Helplessness
In December 2016, a doctor from Guam referred a patient named Andrew to our hospital in Taichung.
It was my first year doing international medical work.
We planned surgery, but it wasn’t possible. Instead, Andrew received a week of radiation therapy.

I felt helpless. He came so far, but we couldn’t cure him.
So I thought: If I can’t give him more time, I’ll give him warmth.

I took Andrew and his wife Beth around Taichung.
We walked the city, bought chocolates, visited the opera house and a garden restaurant. I just wanted them to feel cared for.

Before they left, Beth gave me a handwritten thank-you letter. I was speechless, with tears in my eyes.

❤️ The Story Continued
In 2017, I returned to Guam. I always made time to see Beth.
The last time I saw Andrew, he smiled at me. Soon after, he passed away.

I thought the story would end.
But Beth kept coming back to our hospital.
She invited me to her home, cooked for me, celebrated holidays with us.
She became not just a patient’s wife, but a true friend.

Even during the pandemic, our bond stayed strong.

This January, Beth invited me to her son’s wedding.
I said yes.

Last night, I saw her dance with her son, tears in her eyes.
She raised four kids on her own after Andrew left.
Now, her eldest was getting married.
It was a moment full of love, strength, and hope.

From 2016 to 2025—ten years of connection.
Andrew brought us together, and friendship kept us close.

I’m writing this by the sea in Guam,
sending this prayer into the stars:

☘️ May love keep traveling across the ocean,
and may every kind connection bloom,
wherever it’s meant to be.
