I was asked by an elderly citizen in the church about the time I need to make an allergic rhinitis patient feel better. I didn’t answer the question on the spot. The following are the reasons why I didn’t answer.
1. When I was practicing in New Taipei City the time I need to make an allergic reaction get better is usually a week. However, every person is an individual and has different living environment and different lifestyles. So I can only say that this time length is probable for most of the people but the effectiveness is not guaranteed to everyone. After I said that, many people got better within one week and continued the treatment for a few months then can maintain a good result without continuing taking herbal treatment and medication.
2. In the rural area, people tend to believe the doctors they have known for a long time. The elderly citizen told me that her grandson is already under herbal treatment for many months without any visible improvements. Let alone I haven’t seen her grandson, it is safe to not speak anything about it.
3. The air quality in different areas varies. One treatment effective in on city may not be as effective in another city. Though recently I have already made an old man coughing for twenty years feel very much relieved and a young woman with allergy since her childhood achieve a somewhat good result after only one week, the amount of people being effectively treated with a short time in Tainan city is still not efficient.
