In our latest article, Diary of a Third Culture Kid, Ruby Farley shares her heartfelt journey growing up in the U.S., Korea, China, and Taiwan — and the bittersweet feelings of leaving for college. Her story captures the unique challenges and beauty of navigating multiple cultures while searching for a sense of belonging.
“Third Culture” refers to a person shaped by their parents’ culture, the cultures of the places they’ve lived, and the blend that emerges between them. Third culture individuals are an important part of Taiwan’s international community, challenging simple definitions of what it means to be “local” or “foreign” and revealing the many ways identity can transcend borders.
