Exciting News Ahead of ESCRS 2025!

We’re proud to share that our 10th peer-reviewed study on the Asqelio™ EDOF intraocular lens (IOL) has just been published in the Journal of Refractive Surgery (Vol. 14, e958–e967, 2025).

The study, conducted in the Middle East, followed 34 patients (68 eyes) and showed:
- Excellent distance and intermediate vision
- Functional near vision
- 95% distance and 100% intermediate spectacle independence
- High patient satisfaction with minimal photic phenomena

This publication reinforces the strong evidence base supporting Asqelio™ EDOF as a reliable option for both cataract and refractive patients.

Exciting News – Another Published Study on Asqelio™ EDOF IOL!

We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news! Our ninth peer-reviewed scientific paper on the Asqelio™ EDOF intraocular lens (IOL) has just been published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (Vol. 14, pages 3717–3730, 2025). The full paper is now freely available online through the link below.

This latest study looked at how well the Asqelio™ EDOF lens performs in real-life patients who had cataract surgery or a similar vision correction procedure (refractive lensectomy). The lens is designed to help patients see clearly across different distances, especially intermediate and far distances, without the need for glasses.

In the study, 23 patients (46 eyes) received the Asqelio™ EDOF lens, and 17 patients (34 eyes) received a standard monofocal lens for comparison. The results were encouraging:

- 91% of eyes with the Asqelio™ lens achieved excellent accuracy in vision correction.

- Patients could see well at a distance, and also had good vision at arm’s length and near.

- Vision quality, contrast, and image clarity were similar to the monofocal lens group.

- Patients with the Asqelio™ lens experienced fewer visual distortions and reported high satisfaction.

- Importantly, there were no safety concerns or negative side effects reported.

What does this mean?
This study supports that the Asqelio™ EDOF lens is a strong option for patients who want more freedom from glasses and a broader range of clear vision after surgery—all with minimal side effects.

Today (February 26, 2025), we are very excited to receive the good news to announce another publication of the 9th peer-reviewed technical paper on our Asqelio™ EDOF IOL in the Frontiers in Medicine, Sec. Ophthalmology (2025, v12:1513803). The paper is now available as open access via the link below.

This study aims to evaluate refractive, visual, and patient-reported outcomes three months after bilateral implantation of a novel bi-aspheric, non-diffractive extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lens (IOL) using Phase-Ring™ technology to achieve good vision across distances with reduced dysphotopsia.

The study concluded that Asqelio™ EDOF IOL offers an efficient design, providing good clinical outcomes for distance and intermediate vision, while some patients reach functional levels of near vision. Its non-diffractive design minimizes dysphotopsia and reduces light distortion compared to other presbyopia-correcting IOLs.

Today (December 31, 2024), we are very excited to receive the very last good news of the year and to announce another publication of the 8th peer-reviewed technical paper on our Asqelio™ Monofocal IOL in the Journal of Ophthalmology (2024, Article ID 3520219). The paper is now available as open access via the link below.

This study aims to analyze the prevalence and severity of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and glistening in a new hydrophobic bi-aspheric monofocal intraocular lens (IOLs) 24 months after implantation.

The study concluded that prevalence of PCO was considerably lower for Asqelio IOL than for the Control IOL and reports available in the literature for other hydrophobic IOLs. Prevalence of glistening was minimal in both study and control IOLs.
