Constituent member countries are Democratic Repulic of Congo, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Today, CANECSA is proud to participate in the one-day Partners Forum hosted at Golden Tulip City Hotel, Dar es Salaam, bringing together key Smile Train stakeholders from across Tanzania.

The forum aims to strengthen partnerships, encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, and advance comprehensive cleft care through shared experiences, frontline insights, and actionable planning.

CANECSA was honoured to be represented by its President at the official launch of the National Cleft Center, a Smile Train Leadership Centre, held on 25th June 2025 in Kumasi, Ghana.

This milestone event highlights the vital role of anaesthesia in cleft care. CANECSA remains committed to advancing safe anaesthesia practices and strengthening perioperative care across the region.

CANECSA FCA Scholars at Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute!

Our FCA scholars, supported by Smile Train Scholarship, are currently undertaking their external rotation at Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) in Tanzania.

This valuable clinical experience is part of their advanced training in anaesthesia, equipping them with specialized skills to improve surgical care across the region.

Master Trainer Program Kicks Off in Lusaka, Zambia

On February 24th, CANECSA in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) launched a five-day Master Trainer Program in Lusaka, Zambia. The training brought together 13 senior trainers from 10 countries to enhance their skills and qualify as Master Trainers.

By the end of the training, participants will be eligible to train future trainers in their countries, ensuring a sustainable approach to anaesthesiology and critical care training. With the growing demand for specialists, CANECSA remains committed to expanding its network of trainers.

A heartfelt thank you to the Society of Anaesthetists of Zambia (SAZ) for their invaluable support in making this training a success!
