Karpman's Drama Triangle is a model that explains how people often get caught in unhealthy patterns during conflict or emotional situations. It involves three roles: the Victim, the Rescuer, and the Persecutor.

The Victim feels helpless and believes they have no control over what is happening. They feel powerless and overwhelmed, often saying things like, “Why does this always happen to me?” or “I cannot do anything right.”

The Rescuer tries to save the Victim, even when it is not needed, and often ignores their own problems saying things like, “Let me handle it for you,” or “You need me to fix this.”

The Persecutor acts in a controlling or blaming way, making the Victim feel worse. They say things like, “This is your fault,” or “You never do anything right.”

People can move between these roles quickly. For example, someone may start as a Rescuer, become a Victim when they feel unappreciated, and then turn into a Persecutor out of frustration. This triangle keeps people stuck in conflict instead of solving the real issue.
