DID YOU KNOW ?
CATS and other FELINES are sources of diseases to HUMAN BEING!!!

>Well let us get into it,Today I want to share with you some knowledges about a disease called TOXOPLASMOSIS
>TOXOPLASMOSIS Is mainly infection of CATS and other felines caused by an intestinal parasite called TOXOPLASMA GONDII,
>Birds, rodents(rats or mice),&mammals (cow, goat, sheep and HUMAN BEING),also can be infected.
>primary infection occurs in CATs through ingestion of infected Cat faeces from the environment or tissue cysts in meat of infected pig, cow, goat and sheep.
>Human being (Man) is infected through ingestion faeces of an infected CAT or infected raw or undercooked meat of pigs, cows, goats ,sheeps and other domestic mammals which are used as sources of food by humans
>Human also can be infected from blood or blood products example during organ transplant the parasites then will spread to various parts of the body such as the HEART,BRAIN ,LUNG ,LIVER and other parts ,
>Also a foetus can be infected through transplacental(congenital) this occurs when toxoplasma gondii is acquired for the first time during the first four months of pregnancy
>transplacental toxoplasmosis may lead to miscarriage or a live baby may be born either die in the first few weeks of life or may survive later developing chronic infections involving the brain and Retina.
>prevalence increase with increase in age this is due to continued exposure risks(eating raw or undercooked meat of infected cow, goat, sheep and others, also ingestion of cat's faeces(oocyst) shed into the soil by cats.
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE
1.Proper disposal of CAT FAECES
2.Hygienic conditions when dealing with food, vegetables, fruits and fluids because may be contaminated
3.make sure your meat is well done (avoid eating raw or undercooked meat)
4.screening of TOXOPLASMOSIS early in pregnancy to avoid miscarriage. 5.Attend to your nearby hospital or laboratory for screening or diagnosis of TOXOPLASMOSIS soon as possible.
